I should get my rail in today, that will allow me to put my new blaster together this weekend. I just want to make sure I am understand everybody here. I plan on bedding the barrel to the upper and the gas block to the barrel. Are you all using red loctite on the barrel/upper junction and blue on the gas block?
Parts:
-Bushmaster lower
-DPMS lpk w/Geiselle g2s-enhanced and Seekins mag release button
-Houge grip
-PRS stock
-Lilja 18" (318 or 319 can't remember)
-Bushmaster v-match upper
-YHM low pro .750 GB
-YHM gas tube
- Nordic 15" ff tube
I am going to wait a bit and be pretty picky while acquiring parts for my Lilja ar24 build, open to suggestions. The only parts I have decided on for sure is one of Mark's 6.5 h lowers and a Diamond head 15" VRS rail

Thanks, I forgot to mention I also have the PF Phalanx bcg and am leaning towards the nickle boron version for the ar24. The only real precise measuring device I have is a dial micrometer. How would one measure the gas port inside the gas block w/that tool?

I may have a depth measuring gauge on the rear end of it. That's what I used.

Heywood, I think you were referring to a dial caliper probably. Tackdriver, if you have a good drill set you might find one with the shank the size of the hole and be able to measure with your micrometer. Good luck.

Your right. For some reason I thought he ment caliper even though he wrote micrometer I thought he was trying to measure gas block set back instead of gas hole diameter. I don't know where I got that from, probably because that is the problem I see most often, it is also the problem I had.

I am trying to check port setback for alignment

When aligning gas blocks, I use the protrusion gauge at the end of the calipers inside the block to see where center of hole is.
Then I measure from the barrel shoulder to the gas port center. Most blocks need to be set off from the shoulder, while some will abut right up to the shoulder no problem.

Most gas blocks with set screws (that I have put my hands on anyway) have the set screw hole lined up pretty close to directly across from the gas port hole. So you could use your mic. and a drill bit as olde sarge suggested.
