Just my luck this board was down when I finally started my first Grendel build. I got a good buy on a Overwatch partial upper, barrel, bolt, BCG and AA upper. Added a AP lower with ArmaLite LPK, and RRA two stage.

I know why I got a good deal on the upper, the threads for the barrel nut are not concentric to the center line of the barrel. This causes the floated hand guard to cant to the side. I have had three different tubes and four different barrel nuts, all have the exact cant to them. I have a Mega billet replacement on the way.

madcratebuilder, what type barrel, handguard and comp are you using. Looks great, am about to order parts for my build. Excuse me, Didn't see top of your post. How does it shoot?

That photo shows a temp set up. I just received my Warne QD rings and a Badger 22moa raiser. The scope is an old 5-15X56 Hakko I had around, saving for a Nightforce, and saving, and saving... Hakko made the Springfield M1A scopes, this one is their house brand and is slightly different, nice scope just a little long in the tooth, like me.
My goal is a 600yd sage rat rifle. A friend has a large piece of land in SE Orygun with a good population of these critters, makes a good weekend trip that can turn into a week.
The hand guard is from MI, a 15" SS series. It's light and you use modular rails that bolt to the tube. I have the sling mount and bi-pod stud rails mounted. This really helps with the weight. I contacted MI when I first had this canting problem and they immediately sent me a new package in case it was a problem with their parts. I can't say enough good things about MI customer service, above and beyond IMHO.
The Brake is a WCI, still available from A Arms.
I picked up five boxes of Wolf Gold for shake down and function checking and five of Hornady 123's. Still need to order dies and components.
