Thanks, but that looks like an actual brake. What I am looking for is an extended version of the A2 flash hider that Alexander Arms sells

I didn't find anything during a cursory search, but Bravo Company makes a 1/2x28 extended version:

A 1/2x28 flash hider should provide enough meat to be cleaned out and rethreaded to 9/16x24.

Are you using a 14.5" barrel and need the flash hider permanently attached by chance? If so, you could send them out together and have the hider rethreaded before they pin it.

ETA: I know AA makes a 9/16 hider, but I don't know if it's extended or not. The Saber ones were (I think....) on their 14.5" uppers. Heck, I forget. Maybe they were 14.7" barrels?

Not sure what you mean by "extended". Alexander shows the one below on their site @$16.50 which seems reasonable to me:

The one in the link is like the one on my Light Hunter.

If the one shown on my Overwatch is what you mean by extended.... I don't find it listed anymore and it is threaded 3/4"-28. If that is the style you want, fell free to sent them the pic and ask if they can make one with 9/16"-24 Thd.

I'm assuming a lot here (and we know what happens when I "assume"), but in general Arfcom style parlance---- When someone wants an "extended A2 Flash hider" it is generally because they have a 14.5" M4 style barrel, and they want to permanently attach the extended flash hider to make the legal barrel length of 16". Some barrel makers were sly, and made their's 14.7", and thus allowed the permanent attachment of regular A2 hiders and still made legal length.

In guessing based on context, I'm assuming the above. I could be completely wrong though.

Molar: Do you have a 14.5" Grendel barrel that's threaded 9/16x24? Are you seeking an extended flash hider for the purpose of pinning/silver soldering your 14.5" barrel to legal length, while still keeping the 14.5", thus negating the need for a short barreled rifle stamp?

I was looking for an extended A2 like Sabre used to make. By the time I buy a BCM and pay ADCO to rethread it, I may as well buy a Smith vortex.

With Sabre gone there's a hole in supply section.

Manroy bought Sabre, but I don't know if they are still set up to do what Sabre did. Wiith the steel case coming out, maybe somebody ought to see what they can make now (if they'd be willing).

By the time you buy a smith vortex you may as well buy a tax stamp and cut your barrel down even more and rethread it using the thread for the FH you desire... Wink

Would something like the Phantom from Yankee Hill work? I consider that, basically, an extended A2.

And they say it works really well. Usually near or at the top of the YouTube flash hider tests.

I looked for one with a 9/16 RH thread, but didn't see anything. They have their suppressor mounts available in that pitch and orientation, but I can't find a regular one.

I had a .22 caliber break bored and rethreaded to fit a 9/16x24 Grendel barrel by a gentleman for under $20 including postage. PM me if you would like his contact information.
