Wanting to know what mags you guys recommend for your grendels? I have 1 6.8 c products that works great and a 5rd c products 6.5 that will not feed.
Was also wanting to know if you guys have used any p mags? Heard you can load ten in a 20 and will feed okay. Thinking about ordering some thru midwestxp but wanted feedback first

My C Products 14-round and 25-round mags feed just fine. I also have a C Products 10-round 7.62x39 mag that is probably 99-ish%, which I find acceptable for bench work. The only difference I see between the 10-round 7.62x39 mag and the 10-round 6.5 mag is the follower; rib patterns look the same on both mags.
I believe the interior dimensions of the pmag will be too narrow to accommodate the 6.5 round. If you compare a C Prod 6.5 mag (or your 6.8 C Prod mags) to a standard GI 5.56 mag, you can see the difference in rib depth--the 5.56 ribs protrude deeper inside the mag. I assume the pmag duplicates the interior dimensions of the GI mag. I have a Lancer 20 that probably has similar interior dimensions to a pmag, so I can test some 6.5 rounds in that and report back. However, I think your best bet is C Prod mags (if you can find 'em), AA mags, or Ammo Storage Components mags.

These are what I'm wanting to use if I can? It is said you can take a 20rd mag and run 10 rds with no issues, so i was thinking of getting a 10rd and a 5 rd for deer.
If anybody has tried these and had any luck with these or similar, please post and let us know

Here are a few pictures of 6.5 grendel rounds in my Lancer 20. I apologize for the lousy picture quality. The internal rib dimensions on the Lancer will probably be very close to those of the pmag, so I predict a similar fit of grendel rounds in the pmag.
One round fit fine. Two rounds didn't quite stack properly, but it looked like it would feed. At three rounds, I experienced some mag bulge. At four rounds, as shown here, the mag was markedly bulged. When I squeezed the mag to see if it would fit in a magwell, three rounds simply flew out of the mag.

I played with grendel in Pmag 30's a couple of weeks ago. Five or Ten rounds worked 100% in a box stock mag, though they looked like they would not. Fifteen failed miserably, with cartridges spewing out into a jam after the first shot.
Five rounds there was no noticeable bulge. Ten rounds you could tell it was a snugger fit in the mag well, but still was easily inserted, etc. Fifteen had noticeable bulge and had to be forced into the mag well.
Rifle had an AA 16" SS barrel/bolt, M4 ramps, AA upper receiver, LMT lower.
My read is that with a different follower it might work better, but the feed lips are clearly mis-shaped, and if carved would likely create retention problems.
That said, I've never had a problem with Grendel C-products mags, either 20 or 30 round type. Mine were made late 2008 to six months ago. Have had a few which were very snug in Sundevil billet receivers, but then again, so are most P-Mags.

Midwest have 6.5 mags with the Stoner name on the floor plate. Have used them and they fit better than c products and worked without any malfunctions.

After looking at USGI and the Grendel mags I have, is it possible to convert a standard USGI mag to Grendel by machining out the ribs of the magazine to gain more width in the mag body. Other than the follower that seems to be all that is different.

They will scratch the crap out of your brass, and weaken the stiffness of the mag body. Grendel mags are available as far as I know. Another company bought CProducts and continues to make their product line. All my CProducts mags have worked fine so far.
