I started building this rifle with some extra parts I had, billet upper, old lower, Templar Fast Rail. Going to use a 18" variable twist bbl.
What do you think about the camo pattern?

The white backdrop falses out the auto-flash. Shoot dark objects against a subdued background if you're using a flash.

How did the billet upper fit on the lower? I was told once apon a time that a billet upper should go with a billet lower?? I would have rater had a billet upper for the longer barrel.

It fits fine, you don't have to have a billet lower, it may be nice but not necessary.
You don't need a billet until 24" or more, it helps the rigidity.

Which barrel you going with and what length gas system. I have a Mega billet set that I am building on right now with a JP two stage trigger and a side charge bolt carrier group.

I am going with a Templar bbl, it will have a mid length gas system, it seems to work well.
It starts with a cut rifle match grade blank and gets profiled to my specs.
I am going to go .950" for the first 4", down to .825" until the gas block, then 0.750 from the has block until the muzzle.
I have used a profile like this and it handles well and has no negative effect on accuracy, it carries well too.

I added some light tan and Coyote to it today, it should blend well no matter where it goes, except a snowfield.

What are the benefits of a variable twist barrel, are they as accurate.
