I've been reading on the internet about all kinds or unreliability issues and I'm wondering what you guys would recommend. I live in CA so I'm limited to 10 rounds mags...

I have had decent luck with the C-Products Defense and ASC mags, I think for the most part they are the only game in town. I have been using my 10 round P-Mags when going to the range for bench rest. They work fine when loaded to 5 rounds.

Are the AR-Stoner that Midway sells the ASC mags?

The AR-Stoner are either CProducts, CProducts Defense, or ASC, with a floor plate that says "AR-Stoner".
We haven't had a thread about magazine reliability issues in I don't know how long. There used to be a dedicated sub-forum for it on the old forum.

I've been using 20 rd sized 6.8 mags from ASC. They hold 14 rounds and run almost flawlessly. I fired close to 300 rds through 2 magazine a few weekends back and had no failures. I say almost flawlessly only because they don't reliably activate the bolt hold open.

I have a couple each of the ASC and AR Stoner. Other than the name stamp on the base plate, they are identical.
And they only load 9 unless you shorten the legs on the follower.

I think most of the 10 rounders are mostly good to go. It's the 25 rounders that are a problem for me. They seem to be okay if I only load 17 rounds instead of 25. I would think most of the 10 rounders would be okay though.

I just got my Lilja barrel so I finally got to put my Grendel together. After doing that I looked at the magazines I had bought a year ago, 1 Alexander arms 10 round and 2 AR-Stoner 10 round mags.

AR-Stoner mag only holds 4 rounds. AA holds 10 rounds.
Anybody know where to get a magazine spring for 10 round Grendel magazine?

The Ar Stoner above is their 5 round mag. They aslo have a 10 round mag that is looks like the AA mag above (which I think is the same as the ASC mag). Midway has both the 5 and 10 round versions of the AR Stoner mags. They also have 30 round mag springs, which you can cut to length. I think you will also need to trim the legs on the follower.

You can pull that one out to the same coil length as the AA, then cut it with wire cutters, Dremel, etc. I'm not sure how well it will hold the temper though. Stretching existing mag springs only reduces their life. It doesn't make them stronger.
You should be able to get some springs from Wolff via Brownell's, then cut them to length. They have extra power springs available. Some people like to keep the 4rd mags as-is for hunting if local requirements restrict capacity.

The 15rd/17rd Cproducts magazines were supposed to be a curved magazine, which is what AA asked for. Instead, they sent a pallet of straight mags that look like a USGI 20rd mag at a glance. Due to the case taper of the Grendel, it needs curvature for mags over 10rds in capacity. It is very rare that the 15rd mags actually work when loaded to capacity. I can load them to 5rds no problem, but once I go over that, I will have malfs. I bought 3 of them unknowingly when I first got into the Grendel.
We need to ask ASC to make a curved 15rd magazine that looks like this:

I ordered A.S.C.'s 10 round spring kit for the Grendel mags. Comes with 3 followers, 3 springs, and 3 floor plates. Just had to cut off a little of the front base of the followers and now I have 10 round mags instead of the 4 round AR-Stoners.
