123 SST's over CFE in my Liberty GB barrel - 45r - 02-11-2014
I shot 123 SST's over 30.5 grains CFE with Fed 205M primers and got 2438 FPS average with low ES.
18 inch barrel.
Little over half inch at 50 yards using Holosight.
Bullets were seated to 2.242 COL.
No pressure signs.

That's good info, thanks for posting it. I've got the same setup(18" barrel, CFE w/123SST) except using the CCI450. Still trying to improve my groups, getting 1-2 MOA.

I'm going to seat to 2.233 next time with rem 7 1/2 primers since it's a ball powder and go up to 30.8 grains CFE.
That is the top load for me since the compression might be a factor at COL's 2.233 to 2.242.
My chamber doesn't like anything longer without being a little sticky on ejecting a case.
I polished the throat with JB's before I started.
I use it till the barrel gets seasoned and every 100 rounds or so after to keep a carbon ring from forming.
I think that is helping with the tight throat.
JB's has an earth based substance called garnet in it.
Iosso bore paste has a plant based substance and works well also.
I might try Iosso but I still have a lot of JB to use up.
I like fed 205M and Rem 7 1/2 primers in 223 and 300BLK so that is what I use.
I wouldn't think mag primers are needed in a case that is short and holds around 31 grains of powder.
Maybe using a standard primer would shoot better.

What velocities were you getting with your load? I was surprised by how low my velocities were compared to my 24" I was averaging 2422 with 30.4 and 30.6. I even went all the way up to 31.6 with no pressure signs. velocity was 2509 ES

Tried the CFE again and 123 SST's.
30.8 grains CFE under 123 SST's went 2475 fps average with ES of 16 fps using Rem 7 1/2 primers and COL of 2.233.
Group went .350 at 50 yards using holosight.
Best group so far.
No pressure signs.
I'm liking this load.

Sounds like a great load, and your velocities are right where they should be. What part of the Country are you in, and is this a game slayer load?

I think this will make a good deer load out here in the upper Midwest where I live.
Thanx for the chart,it will be good to try out when the deep snow melts up here.
I think my barrel seems to be working OK with the throat issues that some have mentioned.
My ejection doesn't seem to be quite as good as the 85 grain sierra load.
I don't have any jams but the last shot locks on the mag instead of BS sometimes.
I'm using a H2 buffer.
I'm wondering if it's because CFE is a slower powder.
I think I could go up to 31.1 grains but the 30.8 load is working plenty good enough.
Think I'll wait and shoot the 85 grain sierras till end of winter since they are very accurate and work on the 123's when the snow melts and use a 4x16 FFP MRAD scope.
The holosight is easier to use with all the barrel cleaning and a lot lighter.
Not much fun walking through knee deep snow.
