Well here she is all I need is some good quality optics.

Very nice. What are thinking for optics? Hoping to build mine as soon as the Liberty barrels come in.

Buster she shoots really nice!!!! 4 shots one hole (less than dime groups) at 100 yards with factory loads.

customcutter I am looking at a couple of different scopes. The first is a Vortex, then Millet, Lucid or Nikon. I would like it to be 18x to 20x on the high power end and a max of 6x on the bottom end. Everything will depend on how long I can put up with the cheap place holder I have on it now. Every time it gets above zero and the wind is not blowing I'm headed to the range.

Sounds like she's a shooter. I hear you on the optics. I've got an older 3.5X10X50 Leoupold on my 6.5X55 swedish mauser that I customized. I'll probably use it until I can get a Vortex. Thinking about the PST's in 2.5X10 or 4X16 (mostly for hunting). I'm reading lots of good comments on the Vortex's for the $$$.

Depends on how much you want to spend. I would go with Schmidt an bender or U S optics.
They design and manufacturer their own glass.

SB PM II 3-20
SB PM II 3-27

USO 3.2-17

+1, and I won't have to remortgage the house. I'm hoping to find someone that has them in stock so I can look through one. Only online sales at BassPro and Gander Mtn.

our Bass pro shops here has them in the counter but there some of the lower grades scopes and when i say lower grades there just not a PST or higher they dont have the ballistic reticles in them and there not Front Focal Plane, however they are very clear. At least with my eyes i see ok through it. The other thing i like about my Viper is the eye relief. Not that the grendel kicks hard or anything but my eye is nowhere near the scope. if you order one without looking through when you do get it you wont send it back i promise lol.

I've never been able to tell much looking through the glass in the stores or gun shows any way. I know I bought a Leopould VX-3 10-15 years ago, and I can tell a world of difference at daylight or dusk with it compared to any of my other scopes. I guess I need a lesser quality scope to compare too. I was thinking of the Viper in 2.5X10X44 but thought it might be worth upgrading to the PST in 4X16X50, I did miss a shot at a good buck years ago with a Redfield 2X7 because I couldn't make out the reticles with my fogged glasses, so I didn't take the shot. I did go have Lasik surgery a couple of years later.:-)

I am hoping to hold out for a vortex but I am wanting to be ready to shoot some long range early in the spring.

Not an hour ago I stepped outside with the Grendel and my new PST 2.5-10X44 MRAD. It's dark and I wanted to check out the illuminated reticle. Sighting a car under a street light about 100 yards away, I could barely see the reticle. Then I hit the power switch. Nice. There are several power levels to chose from and I definitely see the advantage an illuminated reticle could have in low light conditions or against a dark background in daylight.

I have had problems with parallax with Millet scopes. Don't waste your time!

Good to know I have never looked through a Millet that was mounted on anything to really determine the quality and user adjustments. I had a friend recommend Millet but I took it with a grain of salt because he doesnt really shoot over 200 yards.

I was going to say something about the Millet, but refrained from doing so because it would have come across as snobbish, but they are well known for breaking, or coming already broken or defective from the factory.

Seems to be a disease, around here. I, too, had some negatives to throw over the Millet, but didn't want to sound like a scope snob, either. Mine had no elevation stops, and you could crank the turret well beyond the rated elevation. I found this out fairly early, while working up a long range drop table. It gave up at 27 moa, but allowed me to think I had over 40. The erector, of course, was not moving in a linear fashion, past the rated 27. The scope went back, and I ended up with a Bushnell Elite Tactical. Some still say that was an improvement.

Well this is the kind of things I need to know. Of course I would love to be able to slap a $3000.00 scope on top of Grenny but it will come down to the reality of the almighty dollar. I need to find the most bang for my buck, right now I am hoping to be satisfied with $500 - $700. That is if I can hold out until I have that much squirreled away.

Well, there is a popular (and very true) adage that goes "Buy once, Cry once.". The corollary is "Buy cheap, buy twice.". I wish I'd learned that a lot earlier, but I was stubborn, and kept thinking that SOMEONE must make a great scope for a couple hundred. Oh, the horror! The horror...

All I need now is quality optics. - LRRPF52 - 01-04-2014

I have a hard time finding anything that really compares to Vortex when talking about bang for buck. I have had nothing but solid reliability from all my Vortex scopes, spotting scope, binos, and red dot sights, and I don't treat them well at all.
