I just placed an order for this guy....

Its going to be put onto a mega billet lower w/ giessele trigger and PRS stock.
I also added 1k of the wolf 120gr to my order
just for the brass of course.I do have a question though, do you guys think that i need the pepper pot style comp? Right now I just have the thread protector coming with it instead of a compensator.

The compensator will make a difference. NEED might be a strong word, but it will make a noticeable difference in recoil. I don't shoot one on my 28" and see no need on it at all. LRRPF52 has shot mine, also, and I don't think he thought it needed a comp, either.

Roger that, little to no felt recoil on BWaites' 28" rifle-a very pleasant rifle to shoot. When I first saw the 28" Grendels advertised on AA's site, I thought that was taking barrel length way too far with little to no benefits, but after shooting one, I had a major change of thought on it. The rifle is also very pleasant to carry, and it is much lighter than I expected. If you're 6' or taller, it doesn't seem cumbersome at all. It looks like a little carbine in BWaites' hands...
There is much to be said for barrel mass resisting negative shooter input, i.e.: disturbing the sight picture with trigger manipulation.

oh i got an awesome deal on it. a friend was selling it and it already had the trigger i wanted. the gieselle super dynamic enhanced. i have it a .223 varmint. if i was piecing it together, i would have ordered either a mega, black rain, or vltor set.
nobody in my area that i know of has a 6.5, what is the recoil like? i have the wolff extra power spring in the lower. I would like to lower the recoil, but i dont want to deal with the blast of a brake. the ones i have experienced are a jp recoil reducer on my 308. that thing is obnoxious. i also have a separate ar w/a troy claymore brake.
what is the pepper pot style or the one that warped is apparently an expert in? how will those compare?

WCI makes the most popular Grendel brake. Warped is WCI. The brake he builds is extremely effective, light, and nowhere as near abusive as some of the gill or tank style brakes. Although it looks like a typical pepperpot brake, I have found it more effective than any other I have seen of that particular style. I t doesn't affect POA to any significant amount, either.
Recoil in the Grendel is probably about 30% more than the 5.56, though most of it depends on setup.

when you say depending on setup, what would the 24" be like? currently i am only ordering the thread protector.

oh the barrel is threaded in 3/4-28 RH if that makes a difference. The TPI is coming off the ordering sheet.
what do you guys think about these options?

Mostly dependant on what else you run on the rifle. Heavy scopes, heavy bipods, lights, etc. all tend to add weight, and dampen recoil also.
Run a bare bones rifle, it has more noticeable recoil.

Well.....AA uses multiple suppliers. With the issues associated with the split from Satern, I suspect that they will do what most AR manufacturers do, and not identify their suppliers. No one knows who makes DPMS or Colt or Stag, etc. AA apparently has decided to follow the same road.

I know nothing of black river tactical, do as you like of course but the brake I made was made to function better than anything out there with none of the drawbacks, it is made caliber specific and TPI specific, it fits like nothing else as well, no slop in those threads, no crush washer to keep it on.
It fits so well you could use it to correct a buggered thread.

Look I make so little on these it is funny, but I make my money by selling so many to happy customers.
I have only had two complaints and that was for an extremely dusty situation, but that guy loves the brake.
One other guy was not happy due to the noise with no ear pro on and I could understand that.
He did say it was well made and worked.

amazing. i had a friend that paid to have flowmaster 40's put on a truck and then complained when it was loud.
alright i was just basically making sure that i wasnt going to be dissatisfied due to blowback. after looking around, it seems that yours is the one to get. im going to be modifying my order to include one.

Why Wolf ammo? It is supposed to be great for plinking. The Wolf 6.5 Grendel MPT 120 grain ammo is great stuff but they use large rifle primers. Does anyone know anything about this manufacturer? At the very least the Lapua cases can be reloaded and of course they use the small rifle primers. It is supposedly the best out there.
