Since this is the special yearly 9/11 match I am going to bring back the M1 Garand Drop 8 stage for this match!!! With sunset @ 7:33 pm we should have plenty of daylight. It will be Saturday September 14th Start time is 9:30 am This is also our annual "9-11" match (each September) to benefit the North Carolina chapter USO. Donations support out-bound and in-bound troops at Charlotte Douglas, as well as the parents of those service members who are making their final trip home........... Donations are not required, but greatly appreciated. If you can donate $1, $5, $10, etc., please see Warrior Poet (Mike) before/during/after the match. You guys (and gals) have helped raise just over $4000.00 in the last 3 years! Thank you!!!!!! This year we are dividing the rifles into 2 Classes: we will have a 308/7.62X51 and up division and an Under 308 division .223, 6.5, 6.8, 300 BO etc. This year we will also be having an overall Champion for Drop 8, actually one in each division. The winner will be determined by adding your fastest Drop 8 time from each match and the persons with the lowest overall time will win. There are 4 matches per year, you will have to shoot in 3 of the 4 matches to be eligible, if you shoot in all 4 matches you will be able to drop your slowest time. This will be the 3rd match of this year 2013. There will be a winner in the Heavy metal 308/7.62X51 and above class and in the under 308 class .223, 6.5, 6.8, 300 BO etc. class If you want to shoot in both classes you will only be able to shoot once in each class. Meaning you will only be able to shoot the drop 8 twice total. I will have an optics class again for the drop eight, with only a first place plaque though as there will probably not be very many shooters using optics. This will be a 200yd and 300 yd shoot All Faler's from all states are welcome! I am looking for sponsors who would like to donate some stuff for prizes Here is the course of fire You can shoot with or without a sling, or you can use a bipod, or some kind of front rest (i.e. ammo can, sand bag etc.) No rear rests are allowed. The targets are 13"X 8" and are set up tall i.e. 13"high 8" wide Military style rifle match There will be an Iron sights and optics division for the Drop eight stage, and optics will also be allowed in the 3 man team stage, however there can only be one optic per 3 man team. Optics will not be allowed for the Sniper stage. Optics can be used to shoot in the Standing drop 3 but time will not count it will just be for fun, you must shoot Iron sights in standing to be eligible for awards. Any current or obsolete semi-auto or bolt military style rifle can be used FAL, G3, M1 Garand , AR 15, M1A/M14, AK, O3A3 etc. As well as any semi auto civilian gun like a Mini14, Browning BAR or a FN FNAR etc. The match will consist of 6 separate stages (Bolt gun Drop 4 and M1 Garand Drop 8 are optional) Stage one (Drop eight) Note the change from 1 minute to 45 second time limit (this will save time and more importantly ammo) will consist of 8 steel targets that must be knocked down from 200 yds (targets are 8" x 13") Fastest time wins There will be 48 targets so six people can participate before having to reset the targets. This stage will be shot from 200yds 45 second time limit Each person will shoot this stage 2 times (If shooting in both Iron sights and Optics Class you will only shoot once per Class.) Stage two (Standing) Will consist of shooting STANDING 3 steel targets that must be knocked down from 200 yds (targets are 8" x 13") Fastest time wins 45 second time limit (Optics can be used but will not be eligible for awards) Stage three (Bolt gun drop 4) Bolt Gun drop 4 (this stage is optional) Will consist of shooting 4 steel targets (using a bolt gun) that must be knocked down from 200 yds (targets are 8" x 13") Fastest time wins 45 second time limit (No optics) Stage 3A (M1 Garand Drop 8) 8 steel targets that must be knocked down from 200 yds (targets are 8" x 13") Fastest time wins 45 second time limit Each person will shoot this stage 1 time (Optional) (No optics) Stage Four (3 man team) Will consist of a three man team Shooting 24 steel targets at 200 yds (targets are 8" x 13") Fastest time wins 45 second time limit (One member per team can use optics) Stage five (Sniper) YOU CAN SHOOT ONE SIGHTER SHOT THAT DOESN'T COUNT IF YOU SO CHOOSE. I had a really good day in Standing Drop 4 and M1 Garand Drop 8 and a good day in the other events except Team where I had a 3rd round ftf jam in my 6.5 Grendel AR15. Those of you who are interested in trying this match should make an effort to come to the next one on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
