To be fair I have been waiting for about 17 months so you will still wait less than I have you should get in on e Lilja group buy it is supposed to be a 6 week turn around I am pretty tempted to get in on it my self building multiple grendels to avenge lost time...

I think the group buy is going to be a bit longer than 6 weeks. I thought I saw somewhere it won't be ready for bolts until the 12 week mark. Regardless, it looks like things are getting better.

I've had a custom .260 AR-10 barrel on order since Feb 2013 with Satern. Guess I will continue to wait....
I had no idea others were waiting even LONGER for barrels.
The bolt is not an issue in this case.

I heard that they are going to be producing in house so it wont be a problem for long.

It's not as simple as it seems.
1) produce bolt
2) find supplier to produce PROPER extractor
3) peen bolt
4) send bolt out for heat treating (hope heat treater knows what he is doing)
5) inspect bolts on return
6) polish and clean bolts that pass inspection
7) send bolts out for surface coat (ion bond, hard chrome, ceramic coat, whatever)
8) inspect bolts on return, toss those that don't pass
9) bevel ejector edge
10) wait for proper evtractors, wait some more, and some more....
11) polish extractor edges
12) assemble bolts with ejector/extractor assemblies
13) toss out of spec assemblies after assembled
14) sell remaining bolt assemblies, find you barely have enough for company production
15) order more parts, cut more bolts
Oh yeah....hire people to assemble bolts!
Hope that you find someone local to do heat treatment and coatings...I'm guessing that isn't real easy in rural Iowa!

A few steps might be missed but good explanation.
If the bolts that Maxim makes pass the tests Precision Firearms is going to put them under he might become the new source provider. A.O. is currently the big manufacture of Grendel Bolts and I was told they will not be producing any more for some time. This comes from a long time Grendel Developer that worked very close with Bill A. and pretty sure he knows what is going on with them. This is an ongoing issue with the Grendel apparently, so the way things look, Maxim might have a good foot in to help out the Grendel Bolt Dilemma.
I know that Maxim make bolts, carriers, extractors and other internal parts for some major companies as there machinist for several years. He even told me a few hidden secrets found on the AA Bolt I sent him. I was told some dimensional differences Bill A put on them purposely so nobody could copy the bolts. Maxim confirmed that without me saying the #'s. I feel Bill A. is the biggest reason for the distribution NOT occurring on the Grendel's and all of the hold up's.
Also apparently the development of the cartridge was a big cluster as everyone didn't get paid for there work and everyone is still fighting over who did what. Bill did not do it alone.
So I hear.....But everyone has there side to the story but I keep getting more evidence that I am hearing info from a good source.

I wouldn't be so quick to throw stones and question another man's motives. It could be that when Bill A. engineered the bolts for the Beowulf and Grendel that he made certain tweaks to improve the performance, given that they needed to be more robust than 5.56 bolts. He certainly specified a different alloy and heat treat process than was standard for 5.56 bolts, so please consider the possibility that he also tweaked dimensions to improve performance, not just so "nobody could copy the bolts."

I hear everything you say and was not trying to be malicious!
I said this comment comes from a long time Grendel Developer. Bill knows who his partners were and exactly what I'm referring to. If Bill wants me to PM who I'm referring to I will. The manufacture I'm referring to said he has gone down this road many times and it keeps coming up.
I was only talking about another person being able to copy his bolt and manufacture a Grendel Bolt. The Grendel Bolt is not the same lug dimensions as a standard bolt. If a Barrel Extension is made to the same standard tolerances then the Bolt should be too.
If he tweaked the dimensions, then every other Grendel bolt is off or his is off. It is the lug dimensions, and he knows this....no secret.
