Which Adjustable Gas Block  - cory - 08-20-2013 It's likely a lot of us will be picking up an adjustable gas block for our Lilja barrels so I thought it'd be a good idea to post this question. PRI, Seekins Precision, or Syrac Ordnance Inc What are your experiences with these? Is the Syrac really worth twice that of the PRI and Seekins? Is there another quality adjustable gas block I've over looked? I had posted this question in my Fenrir Debut post, but I think it got buried. http://www.65grendel.com/forum/showthread.php?6775-Horde-meet-Fenrir ricsmall was kind enough to give his experience with the PRI. Which Adjustable Gas Block  - explorecaves - 08-20-2013 I am looking at the syrac purely due to the equal uniform profile and the locking option that prevents you from over tightening the set screw. My second choice would be the Seekins due to the brass locking screw, but I know my dad would crank the shit out of that brass screw and damage something.... But I am looking at the carbon fiber railed free float tube from Nordic components so I doubt I will have an issue with my grendel builds. My 300blk build might have an issue since I am going with the Aero Precision COP upper, so I am interested in people's answers too. I use the JP Low Profile Clamp on in SS. I HATE the little set screw so I did some research and got some kernel thumb knob screws with the same thread pattern (6/32x3/4"). I got a couple different size knobs, 3/16' and 1/4", and have them on on my Grendel and my Wylde. Just the other day I was running 556 62gr so had to close it just a 1/4 turn then went back to 53gr 223 Superformance and just reach up and give it a 1/4 turn back. To close it and have it not cycle, just turn 3-1/4 turns in and no bolt movement. do note the one on the Grey HG is my Grendel. I had to cut the screw shorter so it didn't stick out so far. The 3/4" length is better for a 2" HG and a 5/8" is better for a Troy or equivalent 1-3/4" diameter HG. It works great and the purpose was to mark the different bullet weights and how much it needs adjusted to get good cycling with the least amount of recoil. The end of the knobs were marked by drilling a hole, just to make a dimple, at 6:00 position in the fully tightened position. In conjunction to the AGB, I use the JP Low Mass Bolt Carriers with there Silent Capture Recoil System. I didn't realize how quite it made the cycling till I had feeding issues caused by my trigger spring and put in the factory buffer and spring in till I fixed the issue. WOW it was a noisy and would have never noticed if i didn't have the to to compare out. Anyhow, JP Adjustable Gas Blocks work great and especially with my thumb screws, hell with a allen wrench. I also called and sent pictures to JP so they might offer them in the future... Ben at Tech Support liked the idea too.. Which Adjustable Gas Block  - montana - 08-20-2013 I have used both the Syrac and SLR DA7 from Rifle works with zero problems. the DA7 only needs one screw to turn and has a detent to lock it in place. Only time will tell if one is preferred over the other but with over a thousand rounds through both I have not had an issue with either so far and both have stayed where I have set them. http://www.slrrifleworks.com/products/adjustable-gas-block https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saGc7bPx1pw Both the syrac and DA7 adj. gas blocks fit under my small MI SS generation 2 hand guards. Which Adjustable Gas Block  - shooter545 - 08-22-2013 I have used the JP on my two 3 gun rifles and have two of the Syrac gas blocks on some other builds. I really like the feature if the Syrac that locks the setting by using a detent. when I first got into using adjustable gas blocks I had a friend of mine have the screw come out of his at a match. We couldn't find it so a a quick trip to a local hardware store ensued. We got it sorted out but it made me think. It was red Locktited by the way. With the JPs I take extra precaution to make sure that they don't come out. JP makes good stuff and I own a pile of it and will buy more. The Syrac on the other hand is not going any where and is very low profile. My experiences have been exactly as listed above. No issues with either after many rounds. The SLR block is a bit easier to adjust than the Syrac one handed, but they basically function the same. They also both adjust from the front. A lot of the adjustable blocks out there now adjust from the side, so you need a hole in your forend. Just something else to think about. Which Adjustable Gas Block  - rickOshay - 08-22-2013 The DA7 sounds like a great block, but they only come in .75". Is PRI the only adjustable block in .936" ? Which Adjustable Gas Block  - babaganoush - 08-23-2013 BTE has them in .936", with or without rails. Which Adjustable Gas Block  - KentuckyBuddha - 07-25-2014 Thanks! Which Adjustable Gas Block  - Joseph5 - 07-26-2014 I got an adjustable gas block from Wilson Combat. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. The barrel is getting bead blasted and the receiver and handgaurd are getting Cerakoted. When I get it all put together I will post a report. That is medium length gas system too isn't it? Which Adjustable Gas Block  - cory - 07-26-2014 The .750 is necessary, but you can go set screw or clamp. I'm going clamp with my next one. The 740 has a rifle length gas system. Which Adjustable Gas Block  - montana - 07-26-2014 Here is the clamp on version, my favorite if it will fit under the hand guard. http://slrrifleworks.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=57&product_id=123 Which Adjustable Gas Block  - Jakal - 07-26-2014 montana Wrote:Here is the clamp on version, my favorite if it will fit under the hand guard. http://slrrifleworks.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=57&product_id=123 This is the one that I just ordered for my AR740 Lilja. |
