Not a Grendel and not a problem but after forum member Schaut had a gas port issue I thought I would look at my Ar-15 .223 gas port with my Bore Scope. I was surprised to find a good sized spade shaped scallop on the forward side of the port. Has anyone seen this?

If you scroll down in this test you will see the pictures of the barrels used in this test sectioned at both the chamber and gas port. I think this is what you are seeing.

I believe you are correct! My round count is 1116 rounds, all handloads. My condition is not nearly as pronounced as the rifles in this test. Thank you for the link. I have been reloading for 50 years (that's a frightening stat!) and I am still learning.

As for reloading, you've got me by a few years. I was discharged from the Corps in 1968 and began reloading the same year.....didn't need to before that. I hope to learn something new every day!
