Had a great weekend in Wyoming. Used factory Hornady 123 Amax. First shot at 450 hit both lungs but didn't drop him. Another pill at 525 through the shoulders did.
The rifle started life as a S&W M&P-15 Sport. I started going Grendel with a used 28 inch Lothar Walther high power barrel and bolt. I had it cut back to 18 inches so I could carry it around, but its still quite heavy at ~13 pounds with scope.

Hornady 123 ammo chronos at 2480 from my 18 inch barrel.
For hunting I use a Swaroski range finder, Kestrel 4500bt, and my droid razor phone running the shooter app.
mods: feel free to move this to hunting, but I think builder's might get some ideas from my weird setup

Absolutely - I'm not a fan of the bullet button setup. the MMG actually doesn't impact me much in prone or the bench, but off hand it can be slightly annoying with such a heavy gun.

The shoulder shot is an exit, the lung shot could be either one - they were just about the same size.

Not a huge one by any means, but the biggest we shot that weekend. He boned out to around 35-40 pounds of meat (lost some on the shoulder). On the horns, I'd say ~6.5 inches around the bases and ~11 inches from base to tip. He would have measured larger but his tips were broken off. I won't have the rack back till December, so Ill take better measurements then.

On the second shot he stopped running, gave me a broadside, and looked back at me - as if to say WTF. I guesstimated 3 moa up on the reticle and rushed the shot a bit, but I'm glad it hit wear it did, as it dropped him on the spot. It was less than 4 inches from my first shot. I'm thinking the shoulder shot was high enough to knock out his CNS. Also nice, the Grendel did very little meat damage compared to hip shots taken that weekend with 300 and 7mm mags. Those rounds took out softball sized holes on exit.
