Good training/outdoor ranges in Northern Illinois are few and far between, unlike i.e. Texas, Carolina's or the Virginia's, but do exist...
A couple to consider are Spartan Tactical Training Group and Impact Training Center which also offers an outstanding range (formerly US Training Center-Midwest).

I am going to be one of the instructors/Rangemasters for the first annual M1forVets event that benefits DAV and Wounded Warriors recently injured and returning to the line in order to compete in the shooting sports. http://m1forvets.org/events.html
Please come on out, all fees for the day are 100% forwarded to the charity in order to provide maximum support.
We are not only going to have instructors from each branch as SOCOM, we will also have a HALO jump, plus much more.
Cost is $100 per adult and $25 for anyone under 17 years of age.
There will be more weapon types than you would find without traveling many, many hours.
