chamber issue - PumpActionJackson - 06-13-2012 Howdy shooters, Well i was going through some brass and noticed every piece of factory brass i have shot has a ring going around it, just under the shoulder of the case. The ring goes all the way around 100% so far its not effecting accuracy or function of the rifle. Im worried it may seal off at the ring and not where it should though:confused: as some of the cases are dirty from the scratch forward. I have talked with the guys at templar about it and they wanted me to send it back in to be fixed, im thinking to fix it they may have to remove a little bit of material, which may shorten brass life down the road:confused: the rings in the brass were near impossible to get a picture of but i tried, im not sure if i should leave it alone or if it needs to go back, so any help would be killer ill try to post some pics showing the rings. its shooting so good id rather just leave it alone, but i wanted to hear what you guys had to say first. in this pic you can see it better on the two in the side, chamber issue - PumpActionJackson - 06-13-2012 it wont let me add more then one picture chamber issue - PumpActionJackson - 06-13-2012 another one chamber issue - PumpActionJackson - 06-13-2012 last one i know their next to impossible so see chamber issue - LRRPF52 - 06-13-2012 I see the ring, and I would seriously recommend sending it to Templar and letting them fix the chamber. Looks like a concentric bur was left in the chamber by the reamer. You don't want a case separation to result from where it is scribing the brass, because that is likely what will happen. I have seen this happen with another manufacturer, and it needed fixing. Worst-case, you'll get a new barrel, but it looks like there is extra material that can be easily removed by a smith who knows how to maybe even hand-turn the reamer. Let them fix it. chamber issue - StoneTower - 06-13-2012 That ring may cause the brass to fail much sooner than it should. Even a rifle that put nicks in the brass can cause an early split in the damaged area. I would see if you can get a new barrel from the maker. Some people have used lapping compound and a fired case to remove slight imperfections from chambers. chamber issue - PumpActionJackson - 06-13-2012 thanks for the replies guys, sounds like it will cause more issues if left alone than anything that may arise from being sent back in, back to templar she goes. chamber issue - DHumbarger - 06-23-2012 Can't really tell from the photo but the reamer might have caught a chip & gouged the chamber wall (worst case). Can you feel a ridge when you run your fingernail over that ring? The other possibility is that the chamber just needs polishing. I hope it is the latter.
