Bored on a cold day, so story time
Between grandkids and me, 7 deer killed. 4 with Grendel (129ablr) and 3 with 300BO (110 Barnes Tac-tx) all suppressed ARs. All at the farm in MS.
Youngest grandson hunting turned 8 in January. His favorite spot is a box on a big pipeline. It is called the duck (be careful, d is right next to f on the key pad!) puddle (DP) box, since there is a creek with a puddle about 250 yds out. You can see 400 yds both ways and it borders very thick 2 year old pine forest and they cross to a several hundred acre field with grass. He started with a heavy barrel 223. Missed one at about 40 yds - I think - couldnt find blood. So I moved him up to a 300 BO which has a better scope with an illuminated dot. I believe the kids shoot better with the dot. He didnt like the recoil last year but has grown a good bit. Killed a doe at 85 yds with a perfect shoulder shot.
Meanwhile the other grandkids come visit. Oldest is 13 and since they dont live close by they dont shoot much. Shoulder aim and neck impact with Grendel at DP. DRT.
One grandson is 11 and was using the 300BO. Killed a doe at DP and then the next day he let a bunch of does walk by waiting for a buck and he killed a spike. (I let them shoot anything legal for their first deer and spikes for their first buck.) I told him to watch for deer coming out of the two year old THICK pine forest at a creek. I discovered 69 year old eyes dont see as well as young ones. Both of the youngest grandchildren saw deer and had to point them out for me! (In fairly thick areas and an hour before dark!) they also find blood much better than me so I use them for any tracking!

8 year old up the week after Christmas - Deer running everywhere since the rut was on. I built the Grendel as light as I could so I could walk with a lighter rifle and dont want to push the 300BO past 150 yds. So we were watching two BIG bucks at 300 yds chasing does, and some medium sized at 250 yds (yes still at the duck puddle). (Interesting side point - he asked why are they chasing does? I said to make babies. He wanted to know more whoops, I said ask you parents!)Well the 8 year old wants the Grendel now! OK. But I wont let him make the real long shots, since he hasnt practiced at that range. So next trip up with 8 year old with school out for Martin Luther King birthday- last chance for him to hunt due to school. I convinced him to hunt a tree stand instead of the DP. Same spot where the 11 year old killed the spike. Same story, he sees a deer about 1 hour before sunset and points it out to me. The deer comes closer for a nice broadside shot at 50 yds, but I guess due to tree stand and not such a good rest he missed, but I didnt know he missed until later! Deer runs about 30 yds to our right, and I said shoot it again! He makes a low shoulder shot, which if horizontal would have likely have hit the heart, but due to downward angle bullet comes out of the brisket and off he goes into the THICK stuff! We find blood, and I go in. (Many of you will say you should have let it lay down and die, but we would never find it after dark in these woods.) I jump it and can hear it and see small trees moving. You couldnt see more than 3 feet with 6 tall pine trees. I had to tell him to stop his celebration song so I could hear the deer. Well, after several jump and follow, I almost step on the deer. It was out of energy and I finished it off. Then I had brother in law come help me get it out. Again, Im 69! So after following, dragging, and processing, the 8 yr old says - where are going in the morning? NOT! Taking kids hunting is so fun

Really great to hear all of this.
Btw, seems like Nosler might be discontinuing the 129 ablr. They do show up from time to time, either regular or "blems" (I've never found anything really wrong) at shooters pro shop. keep an eye peeled.

Sounds about right for them. Down to my last box of 22 cal 60gr Solid base bullets and 357 Mag 180gr partitions. Get one of their bullets I really like then boom they discontinue it. I am really liking the 19gr LRAB in the Grendel, so it would be about par for my experience with them.
Bmash, reading that I would say you have had a very good season. hunting with kids or new hunters in general is a lot of fun for us more experienced hunters. Congrats sir and hope you have many more with that crew.
