At SPS right now. Been hard to find for a while. Get them while you can if you need them

They’ve had 129gr ABLR factory ammo too at SPS.

What’s your pet load with those 129 ABLR? I get/know every gun is different but, I’ve never been able to get them to fly really well, even out of a Creedmoor!

You have to have a VLD seater so you don’t damage the ogive, or modify your seater stem to accommodate it.

You also need to double-seat it for concentricity with an initial start on seating, then rotate the cartridge in the shell holder, and fully-seat.

I haven’t worked with it in many years, but have hundreds of them. I was using 30.7gr of CFE223 in Hornady brass. I don’t think I ever saw super-tight groups, but don’t really care since it’s something I would only use within ranges where 1.5 MOA is plenty accurate.

A 1.5” group at 100yds with that bullet means a cone of hit probability of 4.5” with a max radius from Point of Aim of 2.25” at 300yds, assuming you do everything else correctly.

1.5 MOA would be a 6” group or 3” radius from POA at 400yds.

Rgr that. I don’t have any concentricity issues or dinging up the ogive with the wrong seating stem. Just could never get them to shoot sub-moa consistently. The main reason I’m using that projectile, is for the high bc and good expansion down to 1300 fps! That means long range, well out past 400 and why I’m looking for the lowest sub-moa I can get!

Thanks for the load data!

You want to shoot game past 400yds with it? What type of game and conditions?

Maybe try AR Comp and load longer COL if your mags will allow. Work up to 26.9gr carefully looking for departures in the trend.

Velocity will be about 100fps slower than CFE223 or Leverevolution, but I suspect the groups will be tighter.

For me, I would have a lot of confidence in it to be close to POA at 400yds with the CFE223 load from 6.5 Grendel, and probably not go beyond that.

I found an older thread on it with my data.

One thing that others have noted is that ABLRs don’t like to be kissed or put near the lands. They seem to prefer some jump.

Not really shooting at “game”, mostly Coyotes and other vermin! Rolleyes………..in the daylight! Cool

Thanks again for all the data, appreciate it!

Not to hijack the thread, but to answer the 129 ABLR question, I am using H4895 per Nosler 6.5 Grendel load data. R7.5 primer, Hornady brass, 2.26” coal, 129ablr, 18” Lilja barrel AR.
26.1 gr 4 shot group of 0.66” (0.62” vert.)@2250’/s
26.3 gr 4 shot group of 0.95” (0.36” vert.)@2266’/s
(I don’t recall why I only went with a 4 shot group! Maybe since I’m running low on H4895!!)
And yes, you need to get your seating die machined to match the bullet since these are rather hard to seat to length and will put a ring on bullet. (Compressed) As suggested I will try rotating bullet during loading next try.
Also, 129 ABLR is 0.6” group in my 260 rem. This is with a trued bolt action and match grade barrel.

Thanks for data!

Rotating the case while seating definitely helps with runout, however, I’m hearing more and more that concentricity is not as important as one might think. Several thousand's either way doesn’t seem to have much effect on accuracy. I chased it last year, got serious about it and while my concentricity improved, I couldn’t really see a definitive difference downrange. And I recently heard Eric Cortina, the 2023 SW National F-Class champion and 2023 International F-Class Champion, say he doesn’t even check for it anymore. It’s just not that important compared to the powder/primer combo, neck tension, using quality components. Not saying not do what you can within reason to improve concentricity, just saying I’m not sure you’re going to see much, if any, improvement on target after you do! Having said that, little to no runout does make me “feel” better! Cool
