Howa mini 5 round mag - MOW - 08-10-2023
On my Howa mini, when inserting the 5 round mag I have to pull back, push up and then push forward for it to lock in. Is that normal? It does it with both of the 5 round mags I have. Doesn't matter hard you push or slap the bottom of mag, it won't go straight in and lock. Is there a mod for the mag to go straight up and in? This is the only magazine feed rifle I have that the mag won't go straight in and lock.

I am lead to believe, Howa stock mag & bottom furniture frequently deliver PIA experiences. One alternative that has worked for me was the JO CZ527 bottom metal. Reliability has turned into a beautiful thing. This was with a 6mm ARC, although Id anticipate similar results with a Grendel.

I just got rid of the horrible magazines by switching to the Jefferson Outdoors internal box mag with hinged floor plate.
The magazines for these rifles suck and after trying for years to find something better, I threw in the towel.
I highly suggest the JO internal mag.

All my 5 rounders work well with the DIP bottom metal. YMMV.

All MINE work fine with factory stock and also with Jefferson bottom metal . Also my new 10 round MDT works fine too !
