Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - Colorado - 04-05-2012 Who wants to donate some money to the "Get the poor SPC a respectable rifle" foundation? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=278327100 Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - Whelenon - 04-05-2012 I like that, sweet. Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - MedicMan218 - 04-05-2012 Thats slick Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - Rust - 04-05-2012 Anyone know how well these feed. If I remember correctly they were pretty quick to start experimenting with the Grendel but that they didn't have mags that would feed well. Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - 65hunter - 04-05-2012 wow thats nice Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - MrDraco - 04-05-2012 Rust Wrote:Anyone know how well these feed. If I remember correctly they were pretty quick to start experimenting with the Grendel but that they didn't have mags that would feed well. Last time I checked, they still are having issues with their mags. Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - LRRPF52 - 04-05-2012 With the Mini-14 and Garand-based actions, you are relying on the feed lips to orient the cartridge to the chamber. This is why Mini-14 mags are narrower in the front than the "spine" of the mag, whereas AR15 mags are straight-bodied since you have the feed ramps in the barrel extension. That Mini-Grendel is beautiful. The more I think about it, the more I want a super-heavy barreled set-up with a composite or laminate stock, with pillar bedding. At a glance, people would think it was just another bolt gun. Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - usmc1371 - 04-05-2012 nice rifle.. Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - hm2 clark - 04-06-2012 Beautiful rifle. I have called the company a few times over the years. After talking to the owner 3 times I still am unsure as to weather or not you can get it to feed 9-10 shots. I have my doner rifle along with a custom stock in a bag along with 6.8 mags just sitting around--- waiting for the word. Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - ibgp3 - 04-06-2012 The website guarantees accuracy, it doesn't guarantee that the ammo will feed. That would be a big disappointment. Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - lou400a - 04-28-2012 No issues with mine and its a shooter. Carl is a great guy to deal with and uses quality match barrels. Had to send back my trigger as it would double, but he took care of it. I've only shot it few times of the bench as its heavier than my Ar and the reduced mag capacity doesn't bother me (that's what the Ar is for) . It reminds me of its bigger brother Garand.
Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - txgunner00 - 04-28-2012 Nice! Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - wojo14 - 04-28-2012 Very Nice! You have to start with a Mini 30? That's correct Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - usmc1371 - 04-28-2012 i didnt read anything about mags for it but i might have missed it. are you using mini-30 mags or a specialty mag? Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - fkleinbu - 04-29-2012 I have never been impressed or guage how well something (gun, shooter, or load) shoots with just three round groups.. Five rounds is the minimum, and 10 rounds is even a better indication of how well a gun/load/shooter shoot.. Sorry I am so out spoken about this and I am not really trying to start any trouble.. But I wish I had a nickle for each 3 round sub 1/2", 100 yard groups I have shot, only to have them open up with shots 4 and 5.. I could buy a new rifle for sure.. flk k Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - Drifter - 04-29-2012 fkleinbu Wrote:I have never been impressed or guage how well something (gun, shooter, or load) shoots with just three round groups.. Five rounds is the minimum, and 10 rounds is even a better indication of how well a gun/load/shooter shoot.. Depends somewhat upon application I suppose. For medium-game hunting, the primary interest would be in the cold-bore shot, and perhaps 3-shot groups since that's very likely the most shots that would be taken during a particular encounter requiring absolute precision. It's relatively inconsequential if shots 8, 9, & 10 stray 1.5 moa in such an application. Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - fkleinbu - 04-29-2012 Drifter, I agree with your point about the first shot when hunting.. But given the large size of most kill zone on most game animals, even a thuty-thuty is accurate enough.. Even for head shots, the kill zone is still 2 to 3 inches.. But when some one is saying a given firearm is sub MOA, but then puts forth a 3 shots group, that doesn't impress me.. To each our own.. But then I tend to be more demanding than others.. flk k Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - Drifter - 04-29-2012 fkleinbu Wrote:Drifter, I agree with your point about the first shot when hunting.. But given the large size of most kill zone on most game animals, even a thuty-thuty is accurate enough.. Even for head shots, the kill zone is still 2 to 3 inches.. Entire kill zone isn't always visible. A traditional lever-action 30-30 and a precision 6.5 do not necessarily serve the same role, despite being used for the same game. Using a 30-30, I can't make the shots that I can make with a 6.5, but then I tend to be more demanding than others. ![]() And if a hunting rifle will consistently shoot cold-bore sub-moa 3-shot groups to a consistent POI, it is no less effective for its intended application because some 10-shot-from-a-warm-barrel-requiring naysayer on the internet isn't impressed. To each their own... :p (Sorry to sound confrontational, but not everyone's application is the same. If you like fast sports cars, what would be the point of telling someone that you're unimpressed with their pickup truck?) Accuracy Systems Mini 6.5 - noone - 04-30-2012 We can't tell if the .3 inch group is representative of the rifle's normal accuracy, or if they had to shoot 20 groups before they got one under an inch. I agree that we need at least a 5 round group to really see what accuracy will do. I have owned a number of rifles that would print an occasional sub half inch group, but the normal accuracy for those rifles was around 1-1.5 inches at 100 yards. I wold be dreadfully disappointed to spend that much money on a rifle only to learn that it didn't feed reliably....even if it did shoot .3 inches at 100 yards on a regular basis. |
