82 Hogs, 6.5 Grendel and Barnes VOR-TX

Its no secret, one of my favorite hog hunting calibers is the 6.5 Grendel. Others use it for deer, sheep, and many more targets, but this day I find myself back at the farm along with fellow SHWAT Pro Staffer, Casey Jones, and Remington PR Manager, Eric Suarez. This hunt is a little different because I am easily the worst shooter here (Eric is a retired Marine). Thats actually a good thing, and Eric is our first industry guest at the SHWAT Proving Grounds. He already knows how much I love slaying feral swine with 6.5 Grendel so he shows up with the brand new Barnes Bullets VOR-TX Grendel loaded ammo for live media testing (aka, shooting wild hogs).

Barnes Bullets 6.5 Grendel for Hog Hunting
Historically, Barnes ammo performs very well. Im now eager to see how their new Grendel loaded ammo performs. The projectile is the 115 grain TTSX BT. Its a 100% copper body with a polymer tip.
For this hunt, I am running my Alexander Arms 6.5 Grendel rifle, an AAC SDN-6 suppressor, and my Pulsar Trail XP50 LRF. While this is my tried and true hunting setup, I recently added a Surefire M600DF light and an M-LOK offset mount from Arisaka. I may or may not tell you the story some other time about how my close encounter in a pasture told me it was time to add a light to my weapon.

I'm confused.. I can't find the TTSX in that weight. I can find the TAC-TX in that weight though.... but then they offer loaded ammo with a bullet that's not a component

I shot some of the tac-tx recently... hitting steel at 689... seeing the extreme angle of impact with the bullet hitting the plate is always cool.

Once I whittle down my SST collection I'd like to give the 115 Barnes a go. Hopefully Federal Fusion will turn up around then too.

holy crap those are cool pics! and encouraging amount of expansion even though steel, those impact velocities couldn't have been very high? the gel testing done here has been less than impressive for expansion stuff

as for that article, can you imagine...all that data they left in the hogs, not a single one of them broke out a knife to show us a bullet...that article absolutely infuriates me, what a bunch of total pussies and who in the sane rational real redneck world would write such an article and not have done some knife work to show exactly what they blabbered about....'yay, we did a cull, had some fun, talked about a bullet but too wussy to show you anything of substance about it'

I was so disgusted and disappointed after reading that the first time. These guys are not real gear junkies or ballistics nerds at all. Fanboys at best. Wink

lmao, while I'm ranting about that obscene let down...go look at the pics, the guy standing there almost as far away from the hog as possible, gloves on, trying to keep his clothes as pristine as possible for the pub later perhaps? I don't get it. I'd have looked like the villain from SAW on that shoot, I likely wouldn't have had any time to shoot any myself as I'd have been too busy knifing and collecting bullets, distances(for impact velocities) etc. trying to keep up to the pretty boys who just went pewpew for the sake of pewpew lol, swhat shmat
