Lilja 6.5 Gas Block - radar97 - 05-03-2023 Just purchased a 14.5” Lilja and bolt from rebby over at Six Sigma. Gathering up the last few pieces to finish up this build. I’m needing a gas block and tube. This build will be suppressed most (if not all) of the time. Im trying to decide to go with an adjustable gas block or a standard gas block and BRT eztune gas tube. I have a superlative block on another build but with this being a pin and weld I like the idea of being able to swap the tube out if needed rather than pull the handguard off to adjust the gas. I know it’d only have to be adjusted once but the simplicity of the system using the brt tube is intriguing. Has anyone ran an eztune tube on a 6.5G, especially a Lilja? Lilja 6.5 Gas Block - LRRPF52 - 05-03-2023 Another thing to consider is the Bootleg Adjustable Gas Carrier, which is what I have used on several builds now. It has 4 settings from unsuppressed to suppressed. I run it on the suppressed position and shoot suppressed exclusively with it. It’s very easy to adjust with a flat head through the ejection port, no disassembly or special procedures necessary. Lilja 6.5 Gas Block - Klem - 05-04-2023 Radar, That is an interesting solution for fixing the gas; I wasn't aware of the 'Eztune' option. First thoughts are this is a good idea, but costly. They've obviously done a deal with the original manufacturer, someone like G&J Steel Tubing to buy tubes without the gas port hole drilled. They then restrict the gas with different diameter holes. But instead of the normal $15, or even $30 for a Colt, they are charging $65 for drilling a smaller diameter hole - that is monopoly price gouging. If set on restricting the gas tube hole I'd be thinking of doing this yourself. G&J minimum order is 500 tubes however. Maybe if you ring them they'll consider selling 20 as a cost overrun. Can't see them being more than $5 each from the factory. Also seems that over the life of the barrel the hole might slowly open up - gas tubes are only thin steel. YHM sells a $20 fixed gas block for suppressors. No doubt with a smaller hole but it would be a 'one size fits all' gamble. If it was a cheap barrel I'd be thinking of tuning it as best you can with heavier springs and buffers. Carry say two different weight buffers/springs in your range bag for suppressed and unsuppressed). The Lilja is a Ferrari so I'd be looking at a dedicated adjustable system. 52's Bootleg carrier solution is good because you can adjust and service it completely separate from the upper. For adjustable gas blocks, SLR's Sentry series adjusts from the front with a ball driver, so you don't need to worry about the handguard (I use a long 13" ball driver). Riflespeed's design has models that extend out the front of the handguard for adjusting and looks solid. Or, an adjustable short-stroke piston system like Adams Arms P series. It's particular to a MILSPEC barrel nut but does work with other barrel nuts with modification to the nut to fix the spring bushing at 0.85" from the upper's shoulder. I agree the brt tube is expensive for what it is though. I guess there’s not much competition there. I’m really thinking of just going with an adjustable block Lilja 6.5 Gas Block - LRRPF52 - 05-06-2023 The Bootleg chokes the gas inside a rotatable shaft in the carrier, so there is less ejection port pop. It actually works well shooting suppressed.
