Finally got him - gwtx - 03-15-2023
I've been seeing this boar off and on for a week or so. The winds, and the bright moon have kept me from getting a shot at him. Last night late(after I had already taken a shower), I decided to peek out in the area where he's been showing up. Sure nuff, there he was about 400yds away. I ran back in the house, put some clothes on, and started hoofing it out towards him. No wind for a change, and the moon was behind a light overcast. I got to within 100yds, from him and got in a kneeling position. He kept his butt to me, and I waited and waited. Which was good because I was breathing so hard, I had trouble getting steady. He finally turned towards me, slightly quartering. I "wobbled" the cross hairs around and finally squeezed a round off. He went down, kicked for a few seconds, and got still. I approached him cautiously. I didn't know he was a "blonde" as I had only seen him through the scope on "hot black". Low and behold, I hit him in the ear! Lucky to have hit him at all due to being so unsteady.
The 123 sst didn't exit, but did it's job. Even old men "get lucky" sometimes :)
I had shot another boar a couple nights back but didn't find him for 2 days,,so no pictures. Good huntin to all
