I am at the age where I am getting afraid to climb into an elevated stand.
I am thinking of getting a GhostBlind, any thoughts on the system?

Getting there myself...
I got a couple of barronett's, but trick is, how much do you want to carry/shuffle around unless you have a UTV or something...
And unless you have your own land where you can put it up and leave it for a while.
Haven't heard of the ghost blind though.

Got there a few years ago , tried popups ,just depends on how much you want to carry around . heard of ghost blinds but have not used one .

Problem I find is that my mind doesn't believe it but my body sure does!!!
Not always the huge pains/issues, a combo of 2-3 small ones is enough to really trim your sails!!!

Love hunting out of ground blinds, conceals movement, allow you to play on your phone to pass the time. The only suggestions I would have is to get one that doesn't require a zipper to get in and out of the door. TOOOOOOO noisy in the early morning hours and at last night! I use a caldwell field pod to hold my rifle in the ready position so all i have to do is shoulder the rifle. BOG makes one that looks to be a bit more robust. Additionally I have an ozone machine that is supposed to help with scent. others make an ion generator that does the same. But as the others have stated leave everything in place, that way all you have to carry in is the gun.

I just have a cheap Rhino blind that I've used for the past few years. I've carried it in along with my pack, rifle/shotgun, and a chair. But I usually don't go in very far.
This year, I can finally set up on my own land. It's maybe 50 yards from the house down the hill. Now all I have to do is carry my pack and gun.
And get time to actually get to it.

Just an alternative if you don't want to lug a ground blind: how about a ghillie? I use a ghillie poncho for hunting stuff with much better eyesight than deer (geese). I will just plop down on my stool, throw the parka on top of whatever I am wearing, and wait.

Newbie here. When no snow I use my deer cart to wheel in the Baronnett Pentagon popup and stuff. With snow, I have a large and long sled with hard plastic runners that does the trick. Getting older sucks for sure. I'm 63 and still goose/duck hunt with younger guys and compete/judge retriever hunt tests throughout the Midwest. Just can't see myself ever stopping but can't move as fast either! Hoping coyote hunting might be something I can do and still very challenging. Love my PSA 20" Grendel and need to shoot more. Put a Tract optics 2.5 x 15 x 44 on the rig and it's just about dialed in. Looking forward to learning more from everyone.

CJW, Well, since I am a red necked son of a redneck I always look for the KISS way. The boys around here convert old gravity flow grain wagons by adding celotex to the inside to quite any movement. Build a flat floor inside, side boards to enable standing upright, cut a few gun ports around the sides and ends, roof to keep out the rain, and whaa laa. its done and the deer have been seeing these sitting around in fields and fence rows for years. I have been told that if you are quite enough, the deer will feed right past with in a few feet of the wagon. Sickening easy shot. Just my two cents worth.

the portable buddy (4000-9000 btu) are excellent little heater, and you buy the coghlans mini campfire grill from the camping section of any outdoor store and take the swing out legs off and with some mechanics wire you attach once at the back to the handle and two points on the grill and you now have a little warming grill on the heater to warm up food, it's a hot little heater so doesn't take long to warm up food in foil etc. on low....on high you can actually perk some coffee in a 6 cup percolator....may as well have the versatility with the grill imo

I'm old too and been ground hunting for a few years now, I've found the Ameristep 2 person chair blind to be about perfect. Chair and blind are 1 piece and quite easy to carry afield in the supplied back pack style case. 2 person is tight unless a child and adult but perfect for 1 person with plenty of room to bring snacks and such. I have a hub blind also but having to carry it a chair and whatever else I may want just gets more like work nowadays.
