Don't ask why I bought it but it shoots pretty good for a $300 upper...
It's a 18" SS fluted heavy barrel side charger... I polished the feed ramps and extractor...
Went to range today with and few other rifles... I put 10 rounds through it at 100 yard after laser bore sighting it...
Hornady 123 ELD, 26.5 grains of Benchmark and CCI 400's COL 2.245"... The Hornady book shows 2400 FPS out of a 18" barrel...
I was amazed how well it shot...

It's all luck of the draw when it comes to barrels and don't underestimate how much the shooter counts in the equation. Last long range match a buddy took a off the shelf PSA .223 and with 77 grain bullets shot a clean score with a perfect 600/37 X in AR-T class at 800 yards. Made the boys with high dollar rifles cry.

I had BCA upper in 5.56 that would not group no matter what I put through it so I was kind of skeptical about buying this upper...

Wink For a new BCA, that is fantastic. If you haven't already, put that upper on your bench and make sure everything is tight! Also check around the GB for any major gas leaks. Make sure you clean that barrel thoroughly now that you put some rounds through it and check the BCG, chamber and lugs for metal wickers and loose fragments. You won the lottery on that purchase knowing my own experience with them. Nice shooting!

I did all that as soon as it was delivered...
The only thing I might have to do is get a H2 buffer...I have a H1 in it now and it's throwing the brass out around 1 o'clock...

I took my BCA 16" to the range yesterday. Dadgum thing seems to love that 100 grain Wolf. Right now my range is set up for 50 yards max. I need to trim some tree limbs so I can back to 200+.

But, I know it will shoot minute of feral hog.

The Hornady 123 ELD grouped well, too, but a scosh to the right of the Wolf, but did not feed as reliably as the Wolf.

I may use the 123's in my Howa and stick to lighter weight in my AR.

I've had nothing but good luck with BCA. my 24"grendel upper shoots MOA or slightly better with ammo it likes. It shoots wolf steel case about 1.5 MOA. it's a little ammo picky, but I expected that with a cheap upper. it isn't difficult at all to find good loads for, so no disappointment there. I liked it well enough to get a 16" 300blk upper and a 16" 12.7x42 upper. both shoot better than I can. two of my shooting buddies also bought the same 300blk upper that I have, and one also got a 12.7x42.
between the 3 of us that's 6 BCA uppers that all run 100% reliably, and not a single one of them shoots worse than 1.5 MOA. we're not accomplished shooters though, so someone else can likely do much better.

We even ruined a 300blk barrel with an overcharged case and BCA replaced it for free, no questions asked. It wasn't even their fault!
I know it's entirely possible to get a bad one and it appears that they make some real garbage occasionally, but as long as you're willing to interact with them and return a product if they ship you a bad one, a guy could do pretty well for under $300. Just buy what you want, slap it on a lower, and go shooting. If it doesn't shoot well, they have a sub-MOA guarantee, and it seems they're serious about honoring it.

if you're a perfectionist, and little things like scratches, chipped paint, and machining marks put you off, maybe go spend real money on a better gun.
mine get shot a lot and banged around, so it's no skin off my nose. spending more sure won't make me shoot any better.

I too have a 18" BCA barrel. I have had it for several years and at times I was thinking that all the "anti Bear Creek" talk was correct. Mine seems to be somewhat picky as too bullets and powder. After trying some factory loads and handloads along with a few periods of too hell with it I have finally come up on two bullets it likes. Sierra 85 Gr. HP and Speer Gold Dot Personal Protection 120 Gr. The powder & component shortages had me looking at powder that was available and I could use so I bought some Accurate 2200. I had never heard of 2200 but it is working in the case of my Grendel and these bullets. Now if I can see how the Speer 120 Grs. work on hogs because they group well at 100 & 200 yards.

Put a 20" BCA spiral flutted barrel and bolt on an anderson build to go along with the "22 CZ527 in 6.5 Grendel. The fourth shot out of the BCA barrel took a prairie dog out at 525.
With the Arken 4-16,suppressor and M lock bibods it ended a lot heavier than I prefer in an AR but its a proven crittergetter.
The AR outshoots the CZ and they both hate fur but the AR is quiet!

I have high hopes for the 18" SS fluted upper I just got. Several years ago, there was almost nothing but bad things said about them on this forum. Now I see more decent/good results. So, I decided to take a chance. We'll see how it goes.

I just returned my BCA 6.5G 20" Stainless upper.... It wouldn't extract spent brass and the firing pin went weak and wouldn't punch a primer. I requested a replacement, rather than a refund. Let's hope #2 works much better.

I have a 20" SS side charger, and I had extraction issues with it at first, too. In poking around, I discovered the extractor wasn't right. The feed ramps were also rough as a cob, and it just cycled rough in general. Decided to tear it all down, pulled the barrel and polished the feed ramps, did a little Dremel carving on the extractor (I do have a new bolt, but still waiting on GO/NO GO gauges), and put it all back together carefully. Cycling is MUCH improved, and my next trip out, the only "failure" was me, I didn't get the mag fully seated once. Have still NOT done any proper load workups, but what I threw together as break in/extended function test loads all showed potential, I think the worst was around an inch. Have some test loads waiting on my next range session, hoping I get to them tomorrow. Will post my results if so, and assuming they're worth posting Rolleyes. Later.
