Most people I know use motor oil of some type. I have been thinking of trying chain oil, but I have most of a quart of Rotella T. When used with a pen oiler it may last my whole life. I built an all low-friction AR15 and shot it dry for about 1000 rounds before it got too crusty and needing cleaning, so there's that. NIB-X Nickel Boron upper receiver, NiB BCG and barrel extension, ect

LOCTITE LB 8023 - Anti-Seize Compound apply sparingly with a Qtip on bolt lugs and sliding surfaces. 8 oz will last a lifetime

Confirmed mine about military grade CLP. I thought it dried up a bit too fast when the carbines got pretty hot and also thought it really did a good job on carbon so those two observations of mine are confirmed. The standard CLP went down to -40 F in the test. I have used it in temps down to about five and thought it got a bit thicker but could be me just expecting it. Didn't slow anything down. If that stuff can go to -40 F without freezing, I wonder how cold I can take some 'Cold Weather CLP'?
Maybe not first place in this test but close enough for me seeing as I have a couple gallons of it.
I thought Ballistol sucked as a firearms cleaner and lubricant but when mixed with some water and a little Palmolive dish washer soap makes a really good damp or dry patch lube for muzzleloaders.

From what I have read Cold Weather CLP will run to -65 F, which is way colder than I ever intend to be out target shooting or hunting..I use slip 2000 and CLP in winter with great success.. Even if certain lubes run in cold weather they can behave more like molasses than oil. This is why I'm more concerned with cold weather lube performance than warm weather..With two gallons of CLP I would guess you won't be shopping for gun lube any time soon...

I have used weapons shield for a while and like it. Lucas makes good products. Go high heat for suppressed or high volume of fire. I only use grease on trigger. In a gas AR, restrict the lube to contact points and you will get less annoying carbon build up. For what it is worth, foreign militaries use motor oil all the time and I would not hesitate to use it if I ran out of weapons lube. Dry lube is decent for moon dust environments. I would only use it on the most exposed areas and use normal lube on internals.

I am a fan. Unrelated to lube of an AR -- I shoot a lot of sporting clays in the summertime. G96 is by far and away the best product I have found that prevents rust from sweaty hands.
