My custom 6.5 Grendel - Morvandium - 11-15-2021
This's my 6.5 Grendel build, for which the barrel just arrived. It started in June when I planned my custom barrel order. I knew I could build a gun that shot well, but I also wanted to build one that had a unique look.
This gun has a custom Cerakote job in its future.

[TD]This picture shows the fluting well. While expensive, the "thermal fluting" option from X-Caliber really lightens a barrel of this length while preserving the vast majority of its strength and stiffness. It also has lines that go perfectly with the Troy Alpha rail.[/TD]

[TD]Another view of the fluting and the adjustable gas block that I have turned completely off. Yeah, that's right. While I like my AR platform, gag dumps just are not my mug of mead. And this is not an upper I intend on firing fast. I like the tactile feedback of manually extracting and each round, and I like not throwing trash around wildly. I like having an easier job cleaning. I've even considered ditching the gas tube and block, and using an intentionally misaligned lightweight gas block to seal the gas port and save weight.[/TD]

[TD]A good view of the side-charging receiver. The handle on it is actually fairly loose in its fit to the bolt, but kept in place by the receiver. I love the style, but the finish on it is not what I hoped for.[/TD]
