I have always checked my primers and brass heads when reloading but I never paid a lot of attention to the sides of the case. In another thread I mentioned Sierra downgraded their max loads for Power Pro Varmint by about 1.3 grains so I really started looking over my brass. I noticed Ive got two little notches on the side of my rims that match perfectly with my extractor. Is this normal for a Grendel. Doesnt happen on any of my 223/556 guns and it doesnt matter what load Im shooting.

It happens and normally with stout loads.

The extractor mark that appear on or near the rim of 6.5 Grendel cases is fairly common. Sometimes the mark looks like two fang marks and other times the mark is much more noticeable. The problem can be exasperated by being over gassed but can still occur while the rifle cycles with the appropriate amount of gas. The corners of the extractor is digging into the brass rim. Some extractors are sharper than others and tend to dig in more than others. You can carefully file or sand the extractor corners to eliminate the binding on the rim during extraction.
Johnys Reloading Bench on youtube has a video which covers this issue with the 6.5 Grendel. If the extractor fit is bad enough it could shorten the life of your extractor and chew up the rims of your brass cases. Here is a link to Johnys video.
