Now, I don't have any experience with the Falcon scopes, though I do hear good things. I like the idea of a low power adjustable, though I don't want to compromise my turrets. I want something that I can adjust. I hate coin type turrets.
I do have experience with the PK-A, and have been extremely pleased with it. Kalinka has them on sale for like 200 bucks, which I think is a steal. These things don't seem to exhibit parallax issues like in some of those cheap projection type red dots. 1 moa finger adjustable turrets, and it's repeatable. It's not too difficult to hit steel at 600 yds with it. So I am very happy with this red dot.
So I'm not sure which way to go. I am leaning towards another PK-A, though the low power variable is appealing.
This is to go onto my 5.45 AR
Thoughts?

I really like variable power scopes in the low range, but at the Falcon Menace's price, I'm thinking it has to be made in China=it will probably break and have sub-standard quality out of the box. For a 5.45 AR, maybe the 1.5-5x would be worth trying out. You could also just get a Burris 1-4x XTR for under $300. Those actually hold up well, and are a decent scope with good glass, features. I also believe they are made in Greeley, Colorado.

Well, I know you are probably right. I don't know for sure where they are made, but I do know that Falcon is a UK company, like Hawke. I hear really good things about the opics, they have the right features, like being Mil/Mil. The problem though, is in warranty. You get what you get, and that's it. The same can surely be said about the PK-A. It's a risk.

The Burris looks okay, but I don't like the Reticule on that one either, and certainly not the turrets. lol I guess I want my cake and eat it too. Perhaps I ask too much of budget optics.

The reticule does take some getting used to but the range scale is useful if you practice with it. I've used it to 500 yds on my .223 SBR. The turrets are finger adjustable capped. The caps hold spare batteries.

What about eye relief? How tolerant is it of head position? I read that the Falcon is pretty unforgiving in that regard. I wonder if that defeats the purpose of such a scope. A red dot has no such issues of course.

Not bad. I had no issues with it in that regard when shooting hogs from a helo last weekend. I've shot many, many other critters from a moving jeep with with it too. For quick, close in snap shooting a red dot is better but this is a good compromise for mid range shooting also in my opinion.

The GRSC is very forgiving for eye relief and exit pupil. It has a turret lock, so you can't really use the knobs to make adjustments for windage and elevation. They are capped. The reticle is the only practical manner to compensate for drop and windage. It would actually be a great scope for the 5.45x39mm, although it is calibrated for 62gr out of an M4, but the differences in drop are academic within 300m.

Well, honestly, I'm leaning towards another PK-A. I know what to expect from it, and it's cheap. I won't have to buy rings, just a cap. And practically, I don't think I will need anything else for the 5.45
I have to think about it more.
