Barrel threads - ibgp3 - 02-23-2012 A recent purchase from an on-line listing. The barrel diameter seems to be 11/16" (more than 5/8" and less than 3/4"), and looks like this: ...not a good picture, but very fine threads, and no cut for the threads. This is the AAC drawing for a 3/4x24 mount, it looks like it might measure 11/16". I also find 11/16" mounts. Is there an expert around who sees this and knows what it is? I hate to start ordering thread protectors until I find one that fits. Barrel threads - Drifter - 02-23-2012 What is the barrel brand, length, diameter at gas block, chambering, etc? This info might help to get your answer regarding muzzle thread size. Also, you might consider checking with the seller. Edited to add: Most AA Grendel barrels have 9/16-24 RH threads, but I think some heavy barrels might be threaded 3/4-? RH. Other brands chambered for 6.5 variants are usually threaded differently (such as 5/8-24). Barrel threads - wheelguner - 02-23-2012 I have an Alexander 24" Overwatch upper and it is treaded similar to your pic and is threaded 3/4-28. Barrel threads - ibgp3 - 02-23-2012 Drifter: Thanks for the guidance, I didn't know enough questions to ask when I bought it, and my requests for more info since have been unanswered. The upper says Alex-A 6.5 GREN on the side and it put holes together when I test fired it. I read up, and then ordered 9/16 which is way too small. Wheelguner: Thanks for the info. Now all I have to do is find something with 3/4 - 28 threads to try. I'm guessing that the 2 indentations below the threads are indicative of something. Here's the link( I hope): http://alexanderarms.com/index.php/products.html Sorry the link just takes you to AA's website so if you go to the left area where it says Main Menu and put your pointer where it says "parts and accessories". Then click on where it says "muzzle devices", you should be able to find it. Good Luck. Lee Barrel threads - ibgp3 - 02-23-2012 Thanks leopard6.5 I have all of the pictures and all of the text saved, but I don't have access to that computer right now. 3/4-28 seems to be the A/A standard for larger diameter barrels. Between $90 and $100 they have the flash hider and 2 muzzle Breaks. Now I have to decide between them.
