I purchased a 18 Shaw barrel for my first ever ar15 grendel build. What kind of reputation does their barrels have in this community ? I sure hope at least moa or less at 100

I have a J&T Distributing (sister company to Double Star) 16 CMV 6.5 Grendel with carbine gas system. The accuracy is good for rack grade barrel but it is way over gassed. I bought this upper as my first 6.5 Grendel and I wanted it to match my Duty 5.56 AR-15 in handling. I tried different weight buffers but I eventually bought a rubber city armory adjustable gas key to resolve the over gas problem. Shaw barrels are generally lower priced barrels but many blanks are sold to other companies and chambered to various calibers. It is entirely possible Shaw barrel blanks are used by Radical Firearms or BCA. Shaw barrels have been sold as house brand or OEM by other manufacturers. Many times non disclosure agreements keep actual source of products a secret.
Rack grade barrels are luck of the draw, some might be excellent shooters but generally the accuracy is dependent on quality control on massed produced barrels.

I have a 24" Shaw as part of an AA Overwatch upper. It's basically a 1 MOA barrel, sometimes slightly under, sometimes over, with handloads. It was my first grendel. I expected better given the barrel weight and that it came from AA as an assembled upper with bolt. I have a medium weight Stoner barrel that I assembled into an upper that outshoots the Shaw all day. Both are from the early 2000's.
I have never owned an 18" Shaw so can't comment on that, or Shaw quality of current production.

When the Grendel came out, Alexander offered Shaw or (I think) Shilen.
He put Shaws on the Overwatch. I had one and initial testing at 100 was promising. Until I took it to 300 and then 500. The Shaw on the Overwatch was better than a rack grade but not much. Not a competitive barrel.
Lothar Walther also made barrels for the Grendel but due to a bunch of stuff back then, he did not sell to Alexander and his headspace was based on the 7.62 X 39 bolt and not the Grendel bolt Alexander said was proprietary.
If I had a choice between a Shaw and a LW barrel it would be hands down the LW barrel. If I had a choice between a Shilen and a LW barrel it would be the Shilen.
Shaw makes hunting barrels -- reliable enough but hunting accuracy.

Give you barrel a shot (pun intended), it might be a good one. It might prove fine for your needs, which you haven't stated at this point. The Grendel is a good hunting cartridge that is also known for its long-range accuracy. The thing is, if you want to shoot at distant targets (and hit them), you have a better chance with a higher-end barrel. Some people are able to find a load that their rifle likes quickly, but it is also possible to spend hundreds of dollars on ammo in the search. People are finding the same thing out with the 6.5 Creedmoor. The cartridge has the POTENTIAL to be accurate at long range, but a budget rifle is not always up to the task.

I recall Alexander saying that AA inspected every barrel for the quality level he demanded when the Grendel first hit the market and that he rejected a lot more than he accepted so most likely your Shaw is better than most Shaws.
We don't know what your requirements are so could well be the barrel works out just fine for you.
