The ribs are located in different locations and depths for the 6.5 Grendel compared to 5.56/223 mags. Youd probably need to do surgery to your followers to make them fit.

Bodies of Grendel mags are different for more reason than the follower. They need more rigidity to prevent eventual bowing of the walls of a loaded mag. It would probably work, but not well, and probably not long term.
My question would be why? Are you finding a source of Grendel followers that make this more viable?

It's been tryed several times. I even did some work on the subject myself.
In the end run it's basicly not worth the effort put into it when you can simply get online and order real grendel mags.

I agree with A5.Wouldnt be worth the effort.It would be easier to order a Grendel mag.I use ASC and they can be had for under $15 ea.Probably less if you shop around and spend over $49

Like VASCAR2 said, its all about the placement of that first rib that the cartridge shoulder rests on to keep it in place. That cant be changed, and is why 7.62x39 mags dont work with 6.5G either. The follower really doesnt do much in comparison, and Im not aware of any source for 6.5G followers.
I remember way back when there were no 20 round 7.62x39 short mags and someone said 25 round ASC 6.5G work fine with 7.62x39. I bought three, none were even remotely range reliable beyond 10 rounds. Swapped in 7.62x39 followers & stronger springs and tweaked the feed lips, but only mildly better, so they went in the trash.
I run .300bo, 7.62x39, 5.45x39 & 6.5G thru ARs and the only round that runs in a mag its not designed for is 5.45x39 in GI straight 5.56 mags with a tilt follower, and thats usually only good up to 15 rounds.
