Hey Horde,
I have a PSA Grendel I bought off this forum several years ago..........never fired it. Before I could, I got on here and found out I had the infamous non-SAMMI chambered Liberty barrel. Good thing, as I was taking it apart to send it out to have the chamber fixed, i found a barely finger tight barrel nut. Anyway, with the lost allure of the Liberty barrel, I found a Shilen here for sale and got it. Still have not put this thing together yet, but got to thinking(uh-oh) that all I need is another upper rcvr then I would have two uppers to play with, just swap over bolt carrier and bolt and charging handle and that would be it.
If I am incorrect in my thinking, please advise!!
Now for the question, what upper rcvr should I buy? Should I use the new one with the Shilen for a more accurate upper? The Shilen would have to be bedded in the current PSA upper so I would hope to get the new rcvr with tighter fit. So keeping that in mind, again, which rcvr should I look for and where should I look?

Last couple upper receivers I bought were BCM blems with upper parts kits for 60 bucks. Not sure if theyre available right now or not but they were on BCMs website. If theyre not available i would still recommend BCM because their reciever extension bores are tighter than others and normally requires a thermal fit.

I was just on big daddy unlimited.They had aero precision uppers for $48.Unfortunately, they are sold out. But ,they have Anderson upperS for $36. Ive used Anderson uppers for quite a few builds, theyre good as any.

I have used several uppers but my last few have been Anderson. I have a Friend who has a mill and lapping tool but the last few uppers were really good and wouldve probably been fine out of the box. Honestly as long as the barrel fits the upper with little to no slop your probably gtg.
I would not use one bolt for two different AR-15 barrels. You can buy a Tool craft complete 6.5 Grendel BCG for less than $100 and a charging handle for $15-$20. Might as well have two complete uppers.
I just got an email sales flier from Primary Arms, Anderson charging handle $11.99. If you shop around you can get free or reasonable shipping on upper parts.

Negative, Ghost Rider. They are still out of the blems, and have no new ones in stock either. I emailed today and asked when they might be restocked, but they have no idea.
JoeBobOutfitters has a bunch in stock, from cheapies (Anderson @ 40), some Spikes and Aeros and their own brand Spartans. Also Spikes blems for 75.
