Well, this should be interesting. Ben (HuntTXhogs) and I picked up an LSA TX15 MPCE in .264 LBC for testing & evaluation on Tuesday. We dealt with Andrew Brady at LSA who was very helpful and accommodating with our request to field one of their rifles. We actually inquired about one of their entry level rifles and Andrew suggested the MPCE. So back in February, we toured their facility and then the whole Covid thing blew up on us and things got delayed. However, during the tour, Andrew asked if I had any special requests or preferences, so we went with a Geissele SSA-E trigger (which is what I have on my other guns) and an 18" barrel. He also set us up with a spring and buffer kit to tune the gun to whatever particular ammo we are using if we needed to change anything because what the Superlative Arms adjustable gas block could do for us.
I am really excited by the prospect of trying out this gun, and a bit intimidated. We are hoping to start with some basic range work/ammo testing this weekend. We will set up testing with a good daylight scope and when we get beyond that, move over to thermal and/or nv optics and take it hunting. I explained to Andrew that while I take care of my guns for the most part, that I crawl under fences with them, am out in the rain, things get muddy, etc., that basically treat them as field tools, and he said, "Great. Let me know how it does." So aside from maybe cleaning it a bit more often than my gun gets, it won't be treated any differently than what I normally carry.
We will get photos and video of the testing and subsequent hunts.
Here are the basic specs on the gun, same for the changes noted. This gun also came with a Cerakote camo finish.

The rifle functioned with no issues this past Saturday.
Tried six different grendel loads between 90 - 130 grains.
Locked back on empty every time and cycled smartly - fired brass looks good and no issues with accuracy.
DNS will be putting his thermal optic on it this week.

We have now had the LSA TX15 to the range twice and taken it hunting. The range work went well. The gun cycled with no problems, regardless of the 6 different types of factory ammo or even Ben's reloads. We each shot for groups with the ammo and for the most part, group sizes between the shooters were fairly consistent based on ammo type. Sometimes Ben's groups were better. Sometimes my groups were better. Everything shot was sub 2 moa, which would make it reasonably huntable at typical hunting distances inside 200 yards. However, the Bartlein barrel with it 1:7.5" can do better. The two factory loads that worked best were Alexander Arm's 90 gr. TNT (several years old) and Federal Premium Berger AR Hybrid OTM 130 gr. Both shot MOA or better for both shooters with the AR Hybrid OTM producing just over a 1/2" group at 100 yards.
My only real complaint about the rifle at this point is non-function-related. I don't like the Magpul MOE grip all that much. This differs from Ben who not only likes it, but has the same grip on another rifle. I would probably also change out the B5 Sopmod buttstock for use in the field (reducing bulk and weight), but it was a real pleasure to use for range work as I was able to get what I field was a very comfortable cheek weld.

Its the really high end.

1st rate parts everywhere.
The parts list I would put at 2K -2.5K

No your not missing anything its over priced imo, you can build one with comparable parts for les and I think you could get one from PF for about 1k less and itll shoot just as good maybe better. Plus youll have a Saami Chamber that I prefer.
Even if I had that kind of $$$ Id have PF build me one and send it off to Blowndeadline to get cerakoted in a camo and still come under 3500
This is my .02 and someone else probably has a different.02 and thats ok. Just glad we have options out here.

Yup - the more options the better !
These rifles arent for everybody (price wise) but I am hoping that Lone Star Armory will take in some of the feedback from this board and others and maybe incorporate the caliber in other future lines of rifles that are geared for the mass population.
It is nice to have a build with quality components in the arsenal - no matter how you piece it together or where it is acquired!

You got that right! Dont get me wrong, a tack driving Grendel is on everyones wish list. I just think if they adjusted some of there part choices, Saami chamber and brought the price down from max profit per part theyd probably sell a lot more rifles. But theyre doing something right since theyve been in business for sometime.
Thanks to you n Double Naught for reviewing this. Now I have another mfg of premium Grendel barrels which is a great thing.
