So I found this website by accident while parts shopping for my first 6.5 Grendel AR build. This is the result of the Covid "situation." While on lock-down I decided to assemble an AR. I did, and then another... and then I started an A1 retro clone. I'm in the middle of that (don't have all the parts) yet).
Next thing you know, I was reading some ballistics info and discovered the 6.5 Grendel is pretty sweet in the numbers department. So here I am starting an AR6.5 build.
I grew up in Kansas hunting and fishing and target shooting. I still love the challenge of poking holes in paper and trying to ring the gong at distance. The 6.5 Grendel seems very attractive to shoot long range with.
This website looks to be a great resource. I'm sure it will be a big help for me.
Going to be posting over in the AR section....have some questions about which buffer to use with the barrel and stock I have.

Welcome to the forum Rick. Your at an advantage being at higher elevation. I was shooting my 20 6.5 Grendel AR-15 at 7200 in Wyoming and went 5 for 5 hits on a steel target at 880 yards. Ive been hooked ever since.

Vascar2 you are so right. I moved her almost 30 years ago after growing up in eastern Kansas. The elevation back there goes either side of '1000. First thing I did out here was site in an old 30-06 to go Elk hunting with. I was with a hunting buddy outside Leadville, up around 12,000'. I couldn't believe how flat that '06 was shooting. I had to re-zero it. It was shooting so flat compared to back in Kansas. Incredible difference. Someone told me it was the thin air, but somebody else told that was not correct. It's because you're father from the core of the earth and the gravity is less. Crazy...I don't know which it is.
I couple years later, the same hunting partner took me to a long distance range....800 meters. We were at about 7000'. He had a M1A1, national match version. That was amazing fun! Shooting steel silhouettes with NM hooded peep-sites and ringing those steel targets was a kick! I've been hooked ever since.
Can't wait to get this 6.5 banging away...bought some Hornady Black 123 gr match the other day. :o
