Gentlemen, Warriors, and Vile Unwashed Masses of the Grendel Horde, MONSTER 12 barrels are now back in stock.
Like the Berserkers of old, these nasty little barrels stop at nothing!
THERE. IS. NOT. A. BETTER. DEAL. OUT. THERE.
Black nitrided chrome-moly-vanadium (CMV) steel for all-weather durability.
Tactical and hunting profile shaves weight where not needed and keeps it where it does the most good near the chamber to help put the center of gravity close to the weapon's center of mass so it handles like a much lighter barrel. The "bull" barrel section near the chamber effectively making it behave like a shorter, stiffer barrel also stiffens the barrel for accuracy. This also puts more steel closest to the operator in the event of God forbid! a catastrophic cartridge failure. Barrel weight: 1 lb 8.6 oz.
M4-style barrel extension, slick nitrided.
Rifling is 1:7.5 twist 5R Hybrid with the edges of the 5 lands at a steeper angle than traditional 5R for a better bite on the chronically undersized Wolf steel-case bullet but still retaining the ease of cleaning and the more gentle bullet engraving of 5R. Rifling is our Easy Engraving reduced-height lands for less bullet deformation and less friction down the bore.
Chamber is a SAAMI Hybrid, which means all specs are SAAMI including the compound throat but the case neck has been tightened slightly for better accuracy while maintaining reliability.
Muzzle threads are 5/8-24.
Price? Nobody can touch it. You get Ballistic Advantage or Faxon quality for a Bear Creek Armory price. OK, well, not quite the bottom basement price of some Bear Creek barrels, but there is NO WAY you get this list of features and innovation anywhere for this price.

Seems everybody has a theory and all the pro shooters and "experts" disagree among themselves about break-in procedures, so, no, I don't have any recommendations that are specific to these barrels.
Use the break-in procedure that makes the most sense to you.

BFT. Received barrel and bolt. Thanks again. You made the process very easy. Barrel and bolt look good. Next up is gas block, carrier group and stock/buffer system. Any suggestions that work best with a 12 Grendel?

Nothing different for my 12s than 16, 18, and 20.
Gas block is your choice. I prefer clamp-on models like the Vltor.
Any standard BCG works.
These are also meant to work with a standard carbine buffer.

I have a 16" from the group buy on the way but it will be months before it gets here. That being said 16" or 18" would round out my collection. I really enjoyed putting the Monster 12" together though. It was much easier than expected and shoots great!

These barrels are the technical equivalent of a Faxon or Ballistic Advantage, but at a very aggressive Horde price.
And they keep getting better: Going forward new batches of 12s and 16s will have a more-optimum 1:7.5 twist. I am also improving the rifling specification on all MONSTER barrels to work better with Wolf ammo. Gonna be my best barrels yet!
They are currently in production so it's gonna be two months plus black nitriding. Everything is sold out and all the manufacturers are backlogged!
