Fixed Buttstock vs. Adjustable - copterdr - 01-24-2012
I am kind of new to the AR building world and was just curious if I could use the same buffer spring of one of my old M4 carbines for my new fixed buttstock on my Grendel. I do know that the buffer assy is different just not sure on the length of the spring. Also I haven't seen very many critiques on the Jard 2 stage adjustable trigger, and was just looking for some feedback. Thanks in advance!!!!!

Carbine uses one spring and buffer
A1 buffer tube uses a different spring and buffer (A2 stock uses same buffer tube but you use a little plastic extender on the back of the tube)

Thanks for the help. Yea, just found my answer "Rifle" springs are 13 1/4" long and "Carbine" springs are 11 3/4" long. Thanks again

You will get a more solid feel with the fixed buttstock, rifle-length buffer, and rifle recoil spring. A carbine buffer in a rifle tube will damage your lower, when the bolt carrier impacts the lower near the receiver extension threads where the extension tube screws in. Seen it with several people mixing and matching.
