325lb Boar Meets the Grendel... - 81police - 12-11-2019
Sunday evening I was hunting a stand over looking the Colorado River. Approx. 400 yards to the south I see a sounder of 40+ making their way across the horizon. They turned and entered cover 300 yards out of sight. I happened to gaze down and 50 feet below me in the river bottom, at about 90 yards, was this brute! He was slow walking through mesquite & salt cedar, pausing, and catching the wind. I snapped a photo with my camera (not sure why I didn't shoot first!) then picked up my JP rifle & took a quartering away shot. Bullet entered behind the last rib and raked down into the chest cavity. He was momentarily paralyzed, but got onto his feet and staggered, trying to run, for approx. 15 yards before collapasing.
The 123 SST did not exit. Chest-girth tape measured 325lbs.

One was approx. 2" the other 2.5". We don't get big cutters often in our area, the soil is sandy/gritty and tooth wear is more than normal.
