I have seen that this is done with Redding 6.5G bushing dies.
Does it have to be Full Length dies? Or will neck sizing dies work?
I ordered a set of neck sizing bushing dies. Am I screwed?

It should work. Some people like to fully re-size new brass just in case. Usually with quality new brass this is not an issue.

I use a 6ppc fl die. It does over size the neck due to neck thickness but works well.

I am using a Redding FL/Bushing die with a nitride bushing. .268" IIRC. I removed the expander button...better off without it, IMO.
I found that necking down once-fired 6.5G brass was pretty bumpy, but went smoothly when the fired cases were resized in a regular 6.5G FL die before necking down in the bushing die. New 6.5G brass was not a problem, just necked it down right out of the package.

#RiverRider how much neck tension did that give you? I have about 300 pieces of lapua to neck down. I was thinking of doing it in two stages.

I am using a Redding 6.5 grendel FL bushing die. I am using a .270 bushing for initial size down from 6.5 to 6mm without any issues. Then I run a .266 bushing to get proper neck tension for running my brass in my AR.
* I did find out quickly that if I tried to size down too much in one step, the brass would get crushed and deformed. This happened when trying to use the .266 bushing as the first step. Using the .270 as the first step has yielded zero crushed cases. Unfortunately I am obligated to follow up with the .266 bushing since the .270 was very light neck tension for my magazine fed AR and it caused flyers and very inconsistent chronograph numbers.

I use a .268 bushing (as recommended by Robert Whitley himself) in one step to form my brass....(good lube is your friend)....The bushing is in a Redding 6.5 Grendel FL bushing die. You could use a neck die only but I suspect you'd need to FL resize sooner or later.....
