Matching MK136-bolt ...to go with my GB 20"
Have an older Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 SF to put on it,
waiting for my one piece mount from SWFA 1"/30mm.
Did load some Hornady 123eldm @ 2.250" ,and benchmark
and function tested it, 5 rounds and it worked flawlessly .
At just over $1,000 . @ 6.9 lbs w/o mount n scope .
Will be getting out to the range , this weekend for some more serious work . My wife just came in from getting the mail, mount has arrived .
I will put on the mount and scope and get some pics up later today.

Had a chance to get out today.Used up 4 rounds I had left from my function testing last week. First photo shows those 4 used to 25 yard zero .

Here I had 12 loads, (4)3 shot groups of increased powder drops of Benchmark . @ 100 yards. light wind at my back. Gun ran flawlessly , and shows great promise so far... Thanks Gary

Put a caliper on my groups, not bad for the 1st go `round . @ 100yds,will be getting out to 200,300, + 400 yards next week.
C.O.A.L = 2.250"
New Hornady Brass and primers were Rem 7 1/2 `ers
26.5g = .440"
26.1g = .636"
26.9g = .785"
26.3g = 1.476"
This gives me something to work with .

On a side note, I do have another 6.5 Grendel.
When I 1st joined I did put together a 24" SS brrl`ed complete upper (Radical Arms) ~!@#$% ^&* LOL !
on top of a lower build I did using a spikes tactical lower,there lpk,a Geissele trigger...I did have some short throat issues, after some education in 6.5 grendel ownership, I found that barrel just loves SMK 107gr`ers over Benchmark as well.At just under mag length .
I shot it again today for the 1st time since late fall up here in n.Michigan.
My shooting partner had a 10" steel gong out at 403 yards. So I took a shot at it, and hit it first shot cold-bore.I continued to fire 4) 5 shot strings.Letting barrel cool a bit between them. I did notice after 3 shots in each string fired, I was missing just off right edge...1st 3 all hit target before barrel warmed up is my guess ???
I all in all had a very good day /informative range session .

Thanks , I truly like the 6.5 Grendel . So much so , I have (2) for now
.Was also looking into a bolt rig as well. I see a number of members on here have them , and are very pleased with it in a bolt gun. My thought was to piece one together, and have a chassis rig when i`m done .
Maybe summertime blues project in my near future.

Had a chance to back out and test some of those 1st loads. I set my target at 200 yards this time. without getting the pics up here, I will just say this about my 2nd day out.Using the top 3 out of 4 from last week , plus 2 more.

My results with these 5 loads were 2 1/2" to 4 1/2 " all three shot strings.
Had very low vel. with these, in the 2300-2370 range.
Would like to get out with another batch of rounds using ,

Hope to see both, accuracy and velocity improvements in these next groups.

If you want better speed with the 123 cfe223 or leverevolution is going to be the powder to give it too you.

Havent had a chance to shoot my next loads yet. But was out and about and came home with 2 boxes of Nosler 120gr BT`s . I was going to try these and see how they shoot out of my GB 20" . Sounds like they may be my deer , `yote and occasional pig bullet . Anyone using these or have some loading experiences with `em ? Thanks Gary

I’ve shot a few and they have proven accurate for me in a couple different 6.5 Grendel AR-15’s. A Friend uses a hand load with A-2520 and has taken numerous Antelope with his 24” AA and 18” Brownell’s Grendel II. I loaded my 120 grain Nosler BT with Winchester 748 and mostly with CFE223.

Update, did shoot the 120gr N BT and were ok .Did some more load work with the h123eldm`s and was able to get over 2400 for vel. More like 2440.WITH 27.5g of bm Plus my shooting partner thinks his chrony is off by 50 or so ??? Anyway, the rounds I shot today were all at 200yds ,zerod scope and shot 10 rounds into a 2" shoot n see target .I think I found something to take a closer look at . Now for the other bullet I was hoping would shoot well out of this GB 20" . It is Hornady 100g eldm and guys this thing shot (2) 1/2" groups @ again 200 yards. I was very pleased to say the least. 5 other groups ranged from 1" - 2 1/2" . Still not bad ... The 7 groups I shot today were 28.2 ,28.4 ,28.6 ,28.8 ,and 29.0. 28.4 and 29.0 were the (2) 1/2" groups.
max is 29.4 and is HOT. More to come in the near future weather permitting.
Anyone try these 100g eldm bullets ?

One final note at this point in time. These/this GB 20" barrel shoots and likes everything I feed it so far. I believe my search is done for now
The h123 eldm will be a real good target round and the h100gr eldm will be a place to start for my `yote round .

Went out this morning before the rain came. Shot a total of 30 shots using the 3 loads from last week that looked promising. 28.2 , 28.4 , and 29.0 gr of benchmark and Hornady 100eldm`s were shot.As another member here says ,,,he posts the Good days and the Not so Good days @ the range
My groups all opened up to 2.50" - 2.75" . At 200 yards Temp was a bit warmer out , but not to extreme. I believe it was me not the gun or loads. I sit here typing this and can say I was never comfortable behind the scope today shooting prone.That doesnt happen often.I mixed up my rear bag/s to a different style.Maybe my setup was off ? anyway, always a good day to be at the range with friends .More to come .
