Buffer/Buffer spring options - Bowfisher - 12-30-2018
Have any of you tried different buffers on the lowers you are running the 6.5 G on? Looking at getting a JP Silent capture to try, wondered if there were any other brands that worked well. I'll take any advice/experience with hydraulic buffers/ flat springs etc..
I will be running suppressors on everything when they come in, have a new( to me ) 6.5 G upper and a 22 Grendel built ( haven't seen it yet). The 22 has a Superlative Arms AGB on it, and will be putting one on the 6.5 G.
There has got to be a better option than the stock sproingy setups, IMO...

I use a Vltor RE-10/A5SR extension with their A5H3 buffer and spring in my 12" PSA pistol, 4:00 ejection with gas wide open.
Michael Bell does a pretty good evaluation of it and some other designs.

In my rifle gas and buffer setup I tried a Tubbs flat-wire spring. My Grendel didn't like it for some reason. Too stuff maybe? Works fine with my 20" 5.56 setup, but would not cycle 123gr Black in my 20" BA Grendel. I swapped the spring back to a standard rifle spring, which worked fine for the Black ammo.

I have the Jp scs buffer spring assys in both of my Grendels. The Armaspec silent buffer wasn't available (to my knowledge) or it would definitely have been considered.

I too run JP SCS's in both my 16" and 18" Grendels. The sproing feeling in the stock is one of the things I hate in the AR platform. Both rifles are midlength gas systems. I run the H1 equivalent in the 16" and an H2 equivalent in the 18". Ejection on the 16" is a perfect 4:00 to 4:30 while ejection on the 18" is more of a 3:30. Never ran supressed on either so can't comment on that. I'll never go back to a regular buffer again, for what it's worth.

I use the jpscsh2. Happy with it. Dns was running a hydraulic if i remember right and i don't remember any negative reviews.

I replaced the stock carbine weight buffet and spring with a H2 Armaspec in both my 6.5 Grendel and 450 Bushmaster rifles, both 16 inch barrels. Only shot about 100 rounds from each rifle, no supressor on either rifle. No problems, both throw brass at 4 o'clock.

I use a H2 Armaspec, 16" barrel, no suppressor in my Grendel and 450 Bushmaster. So far no problems, all brass at 4 o'clock
