I know there has to be someone in the Houston area that is interested in a Grendel plinking session, right? I will graciously offer my presence if someone else will offer up a location?
Seriously, though, I am just trying to locate, close with and enjoy a Grendel-oriented outing in the area (SE Texas, not just Houston) with all interested. But as I said above, we will have to depend on the generosity of another member for a location.
Any interest?

American Shooting Center in George Bush Park off 1960 and Westheimer has ranges out to 600yd. I haven't been out there lately but it was built similar to the Black Canyon Shooting range north of Phoenix.

there 600 yd range in now a shotgun range. i heard this on the ar15 forum a while ago. i havent been there in about 8 yrs.... got my own place to shoot.

This is not accurate. The 600 range at ASC is fully functional, and now has multiple steel targets up for everyone/anyone to utilize. Shot there this past weekend...

Well, I'm going to give them (ASC) a try in a week or two and I'll give a report on my observations. I'm just tired of being limited to 100 yards at Carter's.
If anyone is interested in setting up or hosting a shoot on their land/range pleae keep me in mind. If our yankee neighbors up in North Texas set up another shooting day I will strongly consider the drive.

I used to shoot at ASC regularly a few years ago. It could really be a pain to shoot long range because they didn't allow steel targets and they wouldn't let you drive down range when it was even slightly wet (which was 75% of the time because the range is built in a reservoir flood plain). The ROs were generally rude, unhelpful and wouldn't post targets even though they had ATVs.
It's good to hear they may have improved on this some. I still get down to Houston on a regular basis so I'd be in for a shoot it schedule permits.
