A few weeks ago I came across a good deal on BHW .264-LBC 18" barrel and promptly snagged it...but now I'm not sure where else to go to complete the build? I'm not particular about roll-marks, so I'll just get a PSA lower next time they are on sale, but as far as the rest of components I'm not really sure what to get. My goal is to build a rifle capable of good performance in the interval from 5 to 500 yards. Suggestions?

Along with a JP or geiselle trigger. Stay away from jard. Theres a ton of options for uppers. Just make sure you purchase an M16 bcg.

Here you go a handguard. These are as light as a simple float tube, but have rails. I have one on my 5.45 upper.

As for stocks. I dig the Fab-Defense GL-Shock stock. It's spring loaded to dampen recoil, and it comes with an adjustable comb.

The RRA trigger isn't bad at all either.
And I would suggest an upper with M4 cuts.

Here is a review done by an extremely knowledgable forum member LRRPF52
"Some of the little attention to details that I'm noticing about Templar's work is that the upper receiver is blue-printed, meaning the receiver extension face has been trued to the bore axis and barrel extension flange abutment. The barrels are match-grade, top-end units, Yut's is a Bartlein progressive-rifled 1/8.75"-1/8.5", and the chamber has been polished to enhance reliability and brass life. There are also substantial set screw recesses for the gas block, and the gas port is cut to .085" on a rifle-length gas system with a 20" barrel. The muzzle threading is some of the best thread-cutting I have seen, as I typically see shoddy work when it comes to most muzzle threads. The crown is recessed and precision-cut, and very well executed...very sharp, very square.
The lower has a generous flare to the mag well, and the take-down detent & spring channel is captivated by a set screw, with the end of the channel tapped and threaded. The FAST rail has 4 indexing tabs that literally ensure a perfect alignment of the upper receiver rail with the handguard's 12 o'clock rail, so no need to eye-ball it and hope it lines up properly.
I wish i had known about these features on the Templar lowers months ago, because it would have influenced my decision when I bought the PSA lowers. I would recommend the Templar lowers over other standard lowers now, because of the mag well and captivated take-down pin detent/spring channel. Anodizing is really clean as well, as is the surface of the lower. Good stuff really..."

No just make sure it is m16 since the the m16 carrier weight is ideal for the grendel. Also, get a heavier buffer than what you would use for a 223

I think I got the same deal on the barrel. I'm using a LOKI lower with a Geiselle S2S trigger and PSA LPK. I got a great deal on a 14" DD Lite Rail. I used a FA Colt carrier with colt firing pin and an AA bolt. I then got a PWS buffer tube with an integrel shock buffer, a Spikes ST-2 buffer, and a Wolf heavy spring. I also used a SOPMOD stock. I am waiting on my AAC 51T comp to get here along with some mags. Where are you located?

Krater: Did your barrel come with a Grendel bolt?
If it did and they usually do, you just change the bolt out of a normal M16 BCG and put in the Grendel bolt.
+1 on the ACE stock as they are lightweight and the foam on the tube keeps the cold off you cheek.

Krater, I got my barrel from there too! Great price and quick shipping. I have the ACE on some of my race guns and it's great. I would take a hard look at the ACE stock. I would also take a look at the Nordic Components free float tubes. The NC tubes are very light and sturdy. You can add rail sections if needed too. The bolt from AA was only about $60 and they have good prices on brass if you reload. The PSA MOE LPK is only $55 right now too. You can get a carrier from Bravo Company for a decent price and the other BCG parts from PSA when you order a LPK. Good luck on the build.

I've been eyeing this tube as I don't like the weight or handling of a full quad rail.
How do you like the mounting method? I've heard it criticized, yet have not read any documented failures. And the only comparable alternatives use a "pinch" mounting which looks even more dodgy. (Troy is the one some people suggest is better, but has the pinch mount)
To the original poster, the BCG approach I recommend is to get a semi-stripped GI contract M16 carrier with gas key. No bolt. Buy firing pin, bolt key, and retaining pin from your lfav supplier, etc. (I found RRA to be decent quality, no minimum order, and low shipping charges).
G&R tactical had the M16 mil contact Bolt carrier with key. Properly staked, etc. Forget the company name, but they have the GI contract for M4 repair parts.
