Seekins handguard - Bill257 - 03-01-2016 I am considering this handguard for a bench rifle. I am drawn to the flat bottom for stability off the rest and the ability to use a bi pod. I appreciative anyone's thoughts / experience with these. Won't be carrying it much so weight and size are not concerns. Really appreciate the way they have engineered the barrel nut, make sure you have the right wrench to fit it. Seekins handguard - Bill257 - 03-01-2016 Thanks, couple of follow up questions - I now see the barrel nut does not use the standard wrench - What is the right wrench? can you use a torque wrench or is it put on with just a big closed end wrench? Also, I am planning to mount a bi pod on the end of the 15in model, should I have any concern about flex? Seekins handguard - rabiddawg - 03-01-2016 No complaints with mine. Seekins handguard - kmon - 03-01-2016 No idea about the wrench as I have a friend that put mine on and does my AR work when needed. The Bipod is no issue on the 15 inch though. Seekins handguard - A5BLASTER - 03-01-2016 As for as the wrench you can get a 1 1/8 crows foot wrench to fit whatever size torque wrench you have are buy. Hope this helps. Seekins handguard - LRRPF52 - 03-01-2016 It's a nice handguard, especially for riding bags. Seekins handguard - Klem - 03-01-2016 You don't need a special wrench if you have a barrel extension torque tool. The Seekins barrel nut has parallel flats so you can screw it on hand tight and then put it in a vise with the barrel pointing at the floor. The flats of the Seekins barrel nut is what the vice is clamping. Then introduce the torque tool from the top through the receiver. Then the torque wrench on that. You could also go for more stability by sourcing a 3" wide piece of steel plate and screw holes down the centreline so it fixes to the bottom of the handguard. 3" wide is a standard so there will be plenty of bench rests made for this width. The weight of the plate will also help keep it down during recoil. Then unscrew it for hunting. Seekins handguard - A5BLASTER - 03-01-2016 Klem is wright you could do it that way, or just use a common open end wrench and tighten it down or use a crows foot wrench and torque wrench like seekins told me to do when I called them today.
