I'm thinking of an 18" barrel... maybe lilja?
The plan for the rifle is deer/pig gun. I'd like to be confident with it out to 500-600 yards
Any thoughts or other suggestions?

Sounds like a good combo, I just got a vortex hs-t 4-16x44 that would probably be perfect for that build. Judging by your screen name, I'm guessing you're a fellow Alabaman and tide fan, if so,what part of bama are u from? Good luck on the build, and I know you'll enjoy it!

Welcome aboard. I really like the PF forged lowers because they have some features that set them apart from most other forged lowers.
The funneled mag well is one of them. Tension adjustment is another. Machining quality is top notch. They fit tight with the uppers I have tried.

Roll Tide Roll! I'm looking forward to this game tomorrow. I'm from South Alabama near the coast.
This is my first AR build so still learning alot. The vortex is sweet, I've also been eyeing the Trijicon AccuPoint.
Any thoughts on an 18in vs 20in barrel. I want the best compromise between mobility and accuracy I can get.
I also like the Vltor mur upper

The 18" should serve you well for 5-600 yd hunting. Lr 52 has shot his 16" out to 12-1400 I blv, tho he is much higher in altitude. From 18 to a 20" you'll only gain @ 60 fps. I think the barrel quality,hence the accuracy, will get you there fine.
