Some probably are but don't know it. When the Grendel first came out, Alexander contracted with ER Shaw for barrels. You had a choice of a Shaw or Shilen if you bought from Alexander. Lothar Walther also made Grendel chambered barrels but due to a falling out between Alexander and Woodall at LW, the LW barrels were sold by Lothar Walther or through Competitive Shooting Supplies (not sure if that is the exact name or if they are still around).
I do recall that the barrels were marked 'ER Shaw' or perhaps just 'Shaw' but they were stamped into the barrel. I can't remember where.
I believe Shaw caters to hunters and not precision shooters but his barrels performed OK. Nothing stellar, nothing particularly poor.
We did not have many choices then. Shaw, Shilen (if you could get one within a decade or two), Satern (sometimes you never got the barrel you ordered), and LW. Of all of them during that era, to me the most dependable in terms of above average quality was the LW barrels. They were far better than Shaws, not as good as Shilen or Satern but at least if you ordered a LW barrel, you got the barrel and they shot pretty well.
Today you have a choice. I would not get a Shaw. I think that maybe the BHW polygonal rifled barrels may be a much better choice than a Shaw.

I have several Shaw barrels. The very first AR barrels I ever had were Shaw in 1997. Those ones in 5.56 were brilliant. I have one 6.5 Grendel Shaw from Model1 sales, and one from AA. I have never bothered to try either one of those so far. Actually they are NOT marked as Shaw.
My plan is to feed them the Wolf ammo, and my special barrels will get special cartridges.
I understand Mark at Precision Firearms has some modestly priced barrels that still shoot quite well. I would go that way if I were doing it over now. I am nearly positive that is the same BHW ones 1955 was on about. : )

I have had my eye on that barrel as well. I have not been able to find anyone who is shooting it, but I have talked to others who have Shaw barrels and like them. I may build a bolt action with that barrel later when it comes back in stock.

I have one of if not the first grendel for a savage (they had to ask shaw if they could make one) that gunshack sold and can say it shoots better than i can because it makes me look good. If I do my part i can hit a 230gr 45 bullet (not cartridge) laying on it's side at 100 yards.

I have a stainless AA carbine barrel that I have always assumed to be Shaw. It's been sub-moa if I do my part even without free float stock.

Howa (Legacy Sports Intl.) says they are releasing a micro action 6.5 Grendel first quarter 2016. The 20" bull barrel is on my wish list!

oops, missed that. But the general Shaw quality (or not) question may still be relevant.
I might have just been lucky with the two Shaw and one Wilson "air gauged" that I've owned. But I'm not a long distance shooter, most of mine are carbines and I test to 200-300 yards.

My AA/Shaw 16" barrel has consistently been a .75-1.2 MOA barrel for me, no matter what I load it with, ranging from 90gr TNT to 129gr SST.
I could cherry pick groups and say it shoots .75 MOA all day long, but that would be a lie. It shoots like I said it does, .75 to 1.2 MOA.

"ah1", I have that barrel of which you speak. So far, I have shot a .640", 5 shot group, at 100yds, with 120grn NBT's, and 28.5grns of IMR 8208 XBR. My barrel has a nice long throat. If I remember correctly, I can load the 123grn A-Max 2.3425" TTL's. I'm sure this barrel is capable of better, and I have not been able to shoot it much yet.
I also have a 260Rem ERShaw barrel that I ordered from the factory that shoots way less than MOA. I'm a hunter and this kind of accuracy is plenty good for me.
