New to this forum. Been stocking you guys for a while. I'm interested in this group buy. Any reviews on this upper. Super excited to be building my first 6.5 grendel

I just looked at that and like our American Made products way better. Not sure of the purpose of the funky bracket there. http://www.southern-gun.co.uk/

All are single shot guns over 22 cal and i believe 22lr's are limited to 3 shot semi. Quality Arms side charger is more versatile and even has left eject bolts available from 17 Remington to 50 Beowulf.

The one you're mentioning is not the one with a 45 degree CH.
If you click on technical and go to where it says new speed master photos it shows the rifle with the 45 degree charge handle on the left side.
I have a LAR right side charge and it's OK but having a side charge that has most everything enclosed and non reciprocating CH would be very good for shooting suppressed.
I buy American made products.
I think something like they have designed will be made here soon here in the US..
Anything can be made just as good or better.

I have not held or looked at the JP side charge (PSC-11) but for $900 I don't think I will.

The non reciprocating side charge I assume is alot slower in a jam too.......it appears that the lever is folded in, so one would need to fold it out before you could charge it back. A reciprocating lever is always in the same position and ready to go at all times.

What carrier will you use? That is the next hurdle with those Side Chargers, no carriers available most of the time. Young makes them but they must chisle them out of bar stock one by one.

I was thinking YM carrier. But if I cant get a hold of one then I will have to look elsewhere.

By the time you purchase a charging handle to keep the gas hitting you in the face and if you can get a young side charging bolt carrier you will spend more that the Quality Arms upper. Also as a right hander its easier and better to charge the gun and clear the gun with the left hand and keep the right hand on the grip.

Some people what those for some reason and each to there own. I like the left charge too, but not everyone wants what is readily available.

A charging handle can be found for less than 20. In my case I will be machining a plug since my college has a lab we all train in with mills, lathes, plasma cutters, and welding equipment with various aluminum bar types. So for me that's free. My roommate's family's gunsmith sells side charging bcg's for 120. He specializes in m1 style repair and modification, it's a fairly simple task to mod the bcg's and still end up with a good product. So my total is 260 (granted with black phosphate), with only paying 140 right now. Versus 350 at once. Which do you think makes more sense for college kids on the budget of whatever they can earn themselves while enrolled full-time?
As for a left charge being easier, that's just opinion. For me, having my left hand in its support position, gun tilted with the stock still at my shoulder, charge with right hand is easier. I rotate it back to upright and my hand is right next to the grip. Charging left handed you technically have a weaker support/hold on the gun and I have to bring my left hand from my chest to full extension before I can take a shot. Bench/bipod-while-prone, lefty would have the advantage. But that isn't my style, so for me the right hand charge works better.
Now I'm not trashing your (admittedly great looking) product. Hell, if I had 2k to blow on a build I would use yours. But you always act like it's the end all be all for all, which is kinda annoying.

To be a college kid again......i'd give up alot for that experience a second time. Being in corporate finance, there's also a general economic concept known as opportunity cost......my time, as a professional and with a baby on the way, is limited, which tells me that it costs me a lot less to buy an upper, carrier, and misc accessories together than to machine it myself or run around to gather all the individual componants.......sounds like that is not the case for you though, which is totally cool. To each their own.

That's part of why I'm doing it this way now, while I still can. Like I said, QA puts out sweet looking stuff. When I actually graduate and can start expanding the AR options, I'll probably go to them. But for me, right now, it's just not my deal. I shoot left anyway so thats not a problem. But like they say spend the money for
quality once and save on repurchase later. I have had good experience with Mega
so its a no brainer for me.
