Mine is a Pac-Nor barrel...they list "Grendel Match" under "Wildcat" chambers. It has a .295 neck. Very accurate, tested to 700 yards so far.

The 308 won't hold the cartridge (at least w/o tweaking the feed lips).
PTG offers their "Stealth" bottom metal for the Savage DBM...if the 308 mag could be tweaked for Grendel cases I would buy one.
VBullPrecision also offers bottom metal compatible with AICS mags http://www.vbullprecision.com/parts.php#content
Also, SSS offers an extended 308 magazine for the factory DBM bottom metal http://sharpshootersupply.com/Magazines.html

I have CDI bottom metal on both my savages. Just wanting to know if any of my mags might work I have 308 and 223 AI mags. It looks like the Grendel case sits to low and wants to nose dive with the 223 mags.

I built one of the first Grendel bolt guns on a Rem 700 SA back in 05'. I used the mag block out of a 223 mag, shortened and modified the 308 follower. I wish the old site was still up, there were pictures buried in there.

Here is a comparison of the Savage .308 and 7.62x39 DBMs. (Top is .308)
I can place the .308 DBM into my Grendel, and the 7.62x39 DBM will fit into my Savage .308 rifle. The .308 would not hold multiple Grendel rounds without modification.

Everyone seems to have covered the "why 6.5 Grendel in a bolt gun" question, but... To whoever said they couldn't see the need for 300 BLK in a bolt action, obviously you've never shot one!
Shooting subsonics through a can on my 16" CZ 527 is quiet. Like opening a can of soda quiet. Like can't wipe the smile off your face for hours quiet.
I have a couple 300 BLK SBR'd ARs that induce their fair share of giggles and smiles when shooting suppressed, but the bolt-action really gets people going at the range. If I had a good place semi-local to hunt hogs, it would be their worst nightmare, I assure you.

Ok, we've covered why a bolt gun in Grendel. What about a TC encore? Does it offer longer col possibilities?
I am hearing that the savage allows for longer col versus the CZ 762x39 conversion. How impeding is the shorter col, just limits the loads you can develope? Does Grendel load successfully from the CZ mags?
As you can tell, my questions are leading to my next project: a handy east coat deer getter. Either a light weight bolt of versatile barrel changing Encore.

In Texas we start them young, Belle is 12 years old, 78 lbs, 48" tall, 10 1/2 inch pull.Belle is a Leftie. Mission find an action & round for white tail. That Belle can lift and Point . She enjoys my AK74m- 5.45X39mm, right port ejection causes her to flinch. I prefer a 100 gr to 110 gr Sp Hornaday. for Hill Country whitetail.
Mini Mauser left hand action, 18' bbl . Dream Choice a set of O/U 18 ' BBLs to snap on her O/U shotgun.
For over 50 years my two hunting rifles are, Rem 600-6mm (6mm X 57mm) , 600 Rem. 6.5 Rem Mag with 18" BBls. Never popular, 50 years ahead of there, short action time. Alas there right hand.
Is there a small drop block action for rimless cartridge ?

They are starting a run very soon, so you might be able to get on board with at least a barrel, even if they have used all the frames they can get just now.

The barrel is cut with a Manson reamer, so the COAL will be limited only by when the bullet meets the lands.
