What do you consider reasonable cost when shooting Lapua? With bullets going up even higher as of late your crazy. It would be cheaper to shoot 338 Win Mag then Lupua. Just my opinion.

If you want to shoot .338 Win Mag, then, by all means, you do so.
If you want to shoot .22LR, then, by all means, you do so.
If you want to shoot something cheaper, then do it!
I just hope you have fun and enjoy what-ever you shoot. I know I do.

You are entitled to one....just don't try to superimpose it on everyone,,,because I damn sure don't need anybody to tell me how or what to spend my money on that I bust my ass for everyday at work....but this is just my opinion too.

Bill Alexander, that is a nice peice of work! Great choice on the name too! I think there is no doubt that with your reputation this rifle will be a great addition to the legendary history of the Ulfberht. A 338 Lapua is definately going to be in my future and this will probably be it.

Same poor customer service, unanswered phones, inventory tracking, protracted delays, and "shut up and wait" emails?
Short of a place in Heaven, very little is worth that kind of abuse.
Smaller shops and bigger shops manage to do better, but management has to want to do better.

Anybody know how a bipod mounts to this rifle? GG&G 15% off and free shipping ends soon, and I need to figure out which one fit this baby. Uses 1913 rails?

Sent 2 e-mails to AA, and no response. Called them last week, and the guy didn't seem to know anything about the product. I remember being frustrated about my broken Grendel bolt before, and Bill Alexander called me personally and thats why I came back to do business. Kinda disappointed to say the least. I am just asking about how to mount a bipod on a $7,000 gun. lol

From the pics, it appears to use a standard bipod stud, which interfaces like any other gun with the Harris bipod shown. I don't imagine that any other mounting method would be used, but I'm just going off the pics.

The staff knows about the rifle, but they haven't been exposed to all the details. They aren't in production yet, so I wouldn't expect the staff to know much.
Bill will eventually see this, and post about it, I'm sure.
However, as I understand it, it will accept standard bipod mounting systems.

In my research, it appears that the .338 (8.6mm) has similar BC as the 6.5mm. It would be nice if the next two major military rounds were in 6.5 and 8.6mm.

As I am still an MG-lover, I would love to see the Ulfberht with a bigger magazine (20 rds), shooting full-auto.
I am pretty sure some of you may remember that I proposed a mag-fed squad-level MG a few years ago.
That idea originated from seeing a Barrett M-82 used on an exercise in Norway, firing rapidly against a target. It fired just as fast as we usually fired the M2, and with better accuracy, not to mention it was carryable.
I know that the .338 Lapua Magnum has relatively similar practical range as the .50, while the ammunition is a lot lighter. So my first thought was that a .338 magfed LMG would be sweet.
I have presented that idea to others, and some have been less than enthusiastic about it. However, for "my" current needs (Norwegian HomeGuard) it would, IMO, be pretty awesome, as we will probably do guerilla-type warfare if it ever comes to action.

The system has suitable controllability and a rate of fire of around 450 rpm (not verified) The magazine is feasible to about 16/18 rounds, 20 may be too many for reliable lifting under adverse conditions. The barrel is fixed which would limit the effective rate of fire but it is capable of absorbing short bursts up to 60 rounds without problems.

That sounds pretty much exactly how I expected it to behave!
I do not believe a fixed barrel necessarily is a bad thing. If you need more firepower, bring more guns. This way you get more control over the battlefield, and the weight and bulk saved with the barrel can be used to carry more ammo.
It would however be nice to have the possibility to change the barrel without sending the gun to the armory.
I think this gun would be spot on in places like Afghanistan, and for fighting in built up areas. Not that you would be clearing rooms with it, but it should be able to perforate almost any kind of wall, wile being light and compact enough, to allow the gunner to easily carry it and deploy it wherever he sees necessary. Due to the weight (18-19 pounds as I saw mentioned earlier in the thread), it should even be fairly easy to shoot it from the shoulder as well.
