glad i saw this i was just going threw trying to decide if i wanted to try one of the 28's or just get a 24 since there will be another grendel in my near future

First impression: Damn, I'm happy with this build!
It shot really well. Ended up firing about 100 rounds total. Playing with the Burris Signature XTR rings, finally got the right inserts installed and got it zeroed (Sig Sierra3BDX 6.5-20x52). Hitting 0.9"-ish MOA groups at 100yds (not too bad for my lame unpracticed arse). I know it'll get better as my skills improve, as it is outshooting me now.
After that, chrono'd the last 60 rounds with the magnetospeed. Zero function issues, brass looks good (necks just a small bit out of round from the deflector, but not too bad).
First chrono'd round was a no read as the spacer was not needed (I was being conservative). Balance of readings below:

Looks good. My 25.5 inch cz almost matches your data with American gunner averaging 2541 today at the range.

i dont know why but a 28" grendel build seems like it could be fun even though doing a 24 inch build would be easier

A5B, way cool. So the extra 2.5" of barrel only bought me 7 fps. Lol. That is, while just a bit disheartening 😜, a good foundation for comparison. And, candidly, not too surprising given what many learned folks herein suggested would be the case with a 28" barrel that has a RLGS thereon.
I'm hoping that extra steel hanging way out there will lend some opportunity to dev some recipes that take advantage of the long pipe and proves it to be favorably differentiating.

Mel, in case you may have missed it, check out this post. LRRPF52 offered some feedback about Gas-Adjustable BCGs, as opposed to AGBs. With the likelihood of the AGB being buried under the HG, a Gas-Adjustable BCG seems like a less-problematic and a potentially favorable means to an end. If I do end up deciding to implement gas-system-adjustability, it'll likely be in the form of a gas-adjustable BCG.
It is now my opinion that I might not have to go meddling with something that isn't (yet) broke in my system. However, I reserve that right to change muh mind (especially when I start to dev custom loads).
Regardless of what you ultimately settle on, I bid you much success and, equally important, a metric-shite-tonne of enjoyment, kind sir.

Mel, I am running a Superlative Arms on my 28 inch 6mm Grendel with good results. In that it was my first choice out of the box, I can't say that it was necessary, but it seems to work well.
MegaHurtz, I would not compare performance out of an AR to that of a bolt gun. They are different animals.

In this case they are safe to compare since both were shooting the same factory ammo.
Now if we was talking handloads will yea then that wouldn't be a safe comparison.

Agreed. Yea I wasn't talking bout accuracy wise just more on the velocity he posted compared to what my cz did with the same factory ammo.

ima do it , im going to order up a 28 inch barrel and bleed off adjustable gas block , ill swap it onto my current grendel setup while i send my 20 inch barrel out for gun candy coating
im thinking a build will round out with an anodized upper and lower set , 19.25inch hg same stock im using on the rest of my builds and the same grip thats on my grendel just in black
